AFTER her affair with a married man went sour, a 24-year- old woman of Chimwemwe township in Kitwe has asked the Buchi local court to restrain her ‘possessive and violent’ former lover from following her around. Dainess Phiri narrated before  local court senior magistrate Elita Bwalya that she wants nothing to do with Max Chishiba because he is violent and disrespectful.

Phiri said she and Chishiba started dating in 2016 and have an year eight month old baby between them. She told the court that despite not supporting the child, Chishiba is possessive and beats her up whenever he finds her socialising with her friends. Phiri said she now wants Chishiba out of her life completely because he is married.

And Elizabeth Phiri, Dainess’s mother, told the court that Chishiba goes to their house at awkward hours to insult her daughter.
She said she is upset that Chishiba is ruining her daughter’s reputation because recently, people in the community referred to her daughter as a prostitute.

But Chishiba said he cannot follow Dainess because she has no values and is always found at bars.
He said although he was in a relationship with her before he was sent to jail, the affair has never been stable because she never even visited him in prison.

“In fact I am not even sure about that child she claims is mine. That is not my child. I only have one child with my wife,” he said.
