THE multi-million dollar investment in Kalaba Copper Mine in Mwinilunga will open up the area for more social and economic activities once fully operational, acting District Commissioner (DC) Mwiya Thulani has said.
Zamsort Limited has invested in the mine in Senior Chief Sailunga’s Chiefdom.
Mr Thulani said he was impressed with the construction works of the project which was at 98 percent completion.
The acting DC stated that the district was receiving its share of social and economic growth due to Government’s sound investment policies.
“I can confirm to the public that construction works at Kalaba mine is on course and so far it has reached at 98 percent complete. This is very impressive because it will open up the district to more economic activities,” he said.
Mr Thulani said this in Mwinilunga yesterday during a site visit at Kalaba Copper Mine to appreciate the investment and check on the progress.
He has since urged people in the district especially young people to support such huge investment because more job opportunities were being created.
And Senior Chief Sailunga said he was happy that the mine would soon start full operations and create jobs for the local people in the area.
The traditional leader appealed to Zamsort Limited to consider employing local people first if they were to appreciate the investment.
Zamsort Limited a Zambian company which has so far invested over $12 million in Kalaba Copper mine.
