Kitwe Catholic Priest Dies In Road Accident

COPPERBELT University chaplain Father John Bangwe has died in a road traffic accident.

The 38-year-old Jesuit Priest Father was on his way to Lusaka from the Copperbelt when the accident that ended his life happened yesterday.

Police spokesperson Esther Mwata Katongo confirmed the accident and Father Bangwe’s death.

She said the fatal mishap happened around 15:30 hours at Kashitu 2 area on the Ndola highway.

Katongo said that Father Banngwe was driving himself in a Toyota Hilux when he failed to keep to his near side and in the process went hit into a tree on the right side of the road.

“He sustained injuries and died on the way to the hospital. The body is lying in Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmotem,” Katongo stated.
