Zambians should support President Edgar Lungu’s fight against tribalism and his commitment to national values and principles.
We also expect some politicians and their hired civil society activists to emulate President Lungu by preaching love, peace, tolerance and unity anchored on ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION instead of venting out their frustration on him.
Indeed, President Lungu has demonstrated statesmanship by his desire to build a united Zambia where everyone‘s dignity is respected regardless of their tribe or ethnic background.
But assertions by some politicians and civil society activists that President Lungu is a tribalist are not only unfortunate, baseless, unfounded, but also meant to mislead the nation and perpetrate tribalism in the country.
More so, the Head of State’s opponents and politically inclined civil society activists have continuously been distorting his good messages in their futile attempt to tarnish his reputation.
However, some politicians are hardcore tribalists who do not tolerate others who do not share their ethnic background.
For example, a known political party practices tribal politics as all its supporters, sympathizers, including some traditional leaders who hail from a certain Province support the Party because of its fundamental belief in tribalism.
We are appealing to all patriotic Zambians to detest tribalism and its evil vices as well as ignore the tribal sentiments of the said politicians and their hired civil society activists, and support President Lungu’s agenda to unite the nation.
