Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba has charged that the increase in the number of shopping malls in the country has contributed to the weakening of the local currency.
Mr Sinkamba explains that most products stocked in these malls are imported from countries like South Africa, which has negatively affected businesses of local suppliers.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr Sinkamba observes that the kwacha has continued to lose value as most malls have become draining zones for foreign exchange.
The Green Party Leader has since advised government to ensure foreign investments coming into Zambia strengthen the local currency and benefit Zambians.
