Zambian DNA is confident that President Edgar Lungu’s trip to Japan where he is attending the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) will benefit the country.
Zambia stands to greatly benefit from TICAD as Japan has been a strategic partner that has supported the country’s development agenda in various sectors of our economy.
TICAD is a forum where African Heads of State interact with the Japanese Government to tap and access the much needed resources to finance their development agendas.
President Lungu’s recent visit to India also underscores his vision to create the much needed jobs, improve the people’s livelihoods and spur economic growth through direct foreign investments.
The Head of State’s foreign trips are not only meant to woo foreign investment, but also meant to cement Zambia’s ties with other countries so that the country reaps maximum benefits of such high level engagements.
However, we are dismayed by some s critics of the Head of State‘s foreign trips as there more benefits accrued from such trips.
We have noted that the Republican President is in a hurry to market Zambia as a preferred investment destination in an effort to accelerate economic development through increased direct foreign investment inflows in the country.
Most of all, we are satisfied that President Lungu means well for the country.
We are of the view that arm-chair critics of President Lungu’s foreign trips are enemies of the country’s development agenda.
