Chiteme Donates 100 Bags Of Cement, Blocks

I N AN effort to continue b e i n g a r e s p o n s i b l e representative, Nkana Member of Parliament Alexander Chiteme has contributed 100 bags of cement and 1,000 blocks to Luyando community for the construction of a clinic. The area is located opposite Chingola Road cemetery and initially started as an illegal settlement area without adequate facilities such as schools and clinic. The land has now been legalised following the decision by the owners of the land to give part of it to people that have already settled their.

Speaking during the handover of the building materials in Kitwe over the weekend, Mr Chiteme said the donated materials will go a long way in helping to build a clinic for people in the area. He said the construction of a clinic in the area will also reduce the distance that they travel when accessing health services. “I am aware of the challenges that the people in the area are going through and it is why I am donating these materials,” Mr Chiteme said.

He also assured the residents that he has written letters to Nkana Water and Sewerage Company (NWSC) and to Zesco Limited for them to start the process of supplying water and electricity to the area. M r C h i t e m e s a i d t h e t w o companies have received the letters and they would soon start installing electricity and water infrastructures so that the area can start accessing electricity and water respectively.

He said the provision of the two services will help to uplift the living standards of people in the area. Mr Chiteme also donated 300 chicks and chicken feed to women in the area as a way of empowering them. He said the donated items will enable the women to financially support their families. Mr Chiteme also commended the community for embarking on an initiative of building a threeclassroom block at the school, which he said has helped to increase the learning space
