A man has been sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labour for writing a licence theory examination test and attempting to get a driver’s licence on behalf of another person. This was in a case in which David Nkhoma of Lusaka was charged with obtaining a driver’s licence by false pretences.
Nkhoma appeared before Lusaka Magistrate Mwandu Sakala and pleaded guilty to the charge. This is contained in a statement issued yesterday by Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) head of public relations Frederick Mubanga.
Facts of the case were that on Monday this week, Nkhoma wilfully attempted to obtain a driver’s licence for Jonathan Kalala. Nkhoma wrote a driving licence theory examination test on behalf of Mr Kalala, but an alert RTSA examiner quickly noticed that a national registration card which the convict had belonged to Mr Kalala. Mr Mubanga has cautioned members of the public against such crookedness.
