ZESCO Limited has announced that it will on October 1 2019 begin importing 300 Megawatts of Electricity from South Africa at a monthly cost of 22 million Dollars.
The power utility company’s Acting Managing Director Webster Musonda says the period of the importation is six months
Mr. Musonda has disclosed that consumers will bear the entire cost of the importation hence ZESCO will increase the tariffs by 200 percent during the importation period.
He has however said during the period of importation, the Mining companies and other companies crucial to the economy will not be experiencing load shedding.
