Atleast 12 people have died and several others injured in the Buseko Market accident that occurred on Friday evening

Preliminary accident investigation conducted by the RTSA have revealed that the accident happened at around 19:00 hours along Lumumba road after the driver of a truck belonging to BHL attempted to avoid a truck that was reversing into the main road from Puma filling station and ended up losing control and plunged into several Shops at Buseko market.

Accident investigations have further established that the driver of the truck, Elias Chikwenda, aged 34 was driving at excessive speed.

The RTSA has since engaged the transport operator BHL to avail the Agency with the fleet movement records to further interrogate the circumstances leading to the accident in question.
