Government has instituted investigations to establish the Agriculture officers who recommended and placed over 14,000 civil servants on the Farmer Input Support -FISP- Program.
Agriculture Minister Michael Katambo says his office is also waiting for guidance from the secretary to cabinet on the course of action to be taken on the agriculture officers that will be found wanting.
He has also revealed that government has forfeited about 5.9 million kwacha raised from the 400 Kwacha contributions that the civil servants who were dubiously put among FISP beneficiaries were making.
And Mr. Katambo has revealed that agriculture officers have started replacing the 14,969 civil servants that were removed from FISP with vulnerable persons in various catchment areas.
He also notes that the deadline for the 400 Kwacha contributions has been extended to October 31st, 2019 while noting that farmers who made their contributions have already started receiving their inputs
Mr. Katambo was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka today.
