The Zambia Association of Manufacturers-ZAM- has welcomed President Edgar Lungu’s call on Zambians to support locally manufactured products.

ZAM chief executive officer, Chipego Zulu says the appeal by the head of state has come at the right time especially that there is an ongoing ‘proudly Zambian’ campaign which is aimed at promoting locally manufactured products.

Ms. Zulu has told phoenix business that there has been tremendous improvement in the quality of Zambian products in the recent past which has enabled them to compete favorably on both local and regional markets.

She said it is high time that Zambians started buying and supporting locally manufactured products as this will help in the growing the local economy.
On Monday this week, president Lungu called on all Zambians to support locally manufactured products after he was presented with some packets of kawambwa tea by Luapula province minister Nixon Chilangwa during a cabinet meeting at state house.
