A 17-year-old female juvenile has been raped in Chikankata of Southern Province and Police have apprehended three people in connection with the alleged crime.
The rape incident happened on November 3 around 11:00 hours when the victim and her two brothers aged 19 and 10 respectively went to Gumba area to pick fruits known as Masuku, when they came across three suspects who were armed with an iron bar and sticks and threatened to kill anyone who was going to shout.
The suspects have been identified as Tryed Ngandu, 22 years, Vice Munene, 19 and Mabvuto Mitelembe, 17 years all of Hangoma Village in Chikankata
The three suspects are alleged to have tied the two brothers of the victim using fibre before raping the sister in their presence and later freed them with a warning of killing them if they revealed what transpired.
The suspects are in police custody charged with rape and are yet to appear in court.
This is according to a statement issued today by Police spokesperson Esther Katongo.
