Statement On Hichilema’s Intention To Write To IMF

November 19, 2019

Hakainde Hichilema greeting his followers

UPND‘s Hakainde Hichilema’s intention to write to IMF is an attempt to gain cheap political mileage by assuming authority he does not wield as Government has already submitted the country’s economic recovery plan to the said financial institution.

Hichilema’s intention to write to IMF is meant to show the world that he’s in the driving seat when in fact not.

The people of Zambia gave President Edgar Lungu the mandate to govern up to 2021, and the Head of State has delegated the duties of Minister of Finance to Hon. Bwalya N’gandu and not Hichilema.

We are urging the Zambian people to take the opposition leader’s maneuvers as desperation for power.

We are fully aware that Government through the Minister of Finance   has already submitted the country’s economic recovery plan to IMF, and are currently in talks with the IMF team.

We are also very confident that Government –IMF talks will yield the desired positive results.
