National Democratic Congress – NDC leader Chishimba Kambwili and United Party for National Development – UPND President Hakainde Hichilema have threatened legal action so that the Chilubi parliamentary by election is suspended.
The two leaders said this in view of decision by the Police to ban them from continuing their campaigns in the Chilubi parliamentary by-election.
The Police have made this decision to accommodate President Edgar Lungu’s campaigns for Patriotic Front candidate Mulenga Fube.
NDC President Chishimba Kambwili says Zambia does not belong to the Patriotic front.
And United Party For National Development President Hakainde Hichilema says forcefully sending opposition political party presidents from Chilubi is a violation of the fundamental human rights and further adds that President Lungu has failed to maintain the rule of law.
The Chilubi parliamentary by elections are set for February 13th 2020.
The set fell vacant after the death of Rosaria Fundanga.
