Health Workers Recruitment Bias – Biomedical Union

The recruitment strategy of Health workers in the wake of Covid-19 has been received with mixed feelings by various stakeholders.

The Biomedical Union of Zambia has accused Ministry of Health of being bias in the recruitment process as the initial statistics shows that more nurses have been recruited than the other professions such as clinical officers and biomedical scientist.

Mr. Mwimbe says only 100 biomedical scientist have so far been recruited out of 600.

But Health Minister, Chitalu Chilufya has clarified that recruitment is dependent on the specific needs in the country’s health sector.

Last month President Edgar Lungu ordered the immediate recruitment of 3,400 health workers among them 400 doctors and 3000 paramedics.
