Hachipuka Refutes UPND Allegations

Former UPND Mbabala Member of Parliament Emmanuel Hachipuka has refuted allegations by the UPND that he is being used by the ruling MMD to buy votes in Mbabala constituency describing the claims as stupid.

Mr. Hachipuka has told QFM news that he had been with the UPND as a parliamentarian for 12 years and wonders why the UPND has now chosen to come up with false allegations against him.

He says people holding positions in the UPND should focus on selling the party rather than resorting to maligning people for their diminishing popularity.

Yesterday, UPND deputy spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa accused Mr. Hachipuka of being used by the ruling MMD to convince UPND party officials to defect.

Mr. Mweetwa further alleged that would-be defectors are being offered about K5.5 million kwacha each.

Mr. Hachipuka says he is still a member of UPND and has since threatened take legal action should the party leadership decide to expel him
