Ruling MMD Provincial Chairman william Banda has denied been part of violence which resulted in a number of people suffering injury in chongwe district recently.
Mr Banda who was summoned by the police arrived at 14hours and proceed to one of the rooms to be inteveiwed by police officers.
As he was interviewd by the police officers a convoy of opposition Patriotic Front cadres were seen passing by church road while chanting party slogans.
The move angered an MMD official who made a call to his colleagues to bring 10 buses full of caders to come and clash their rivals but his colleague managed to grab his phone which annoyed him and said in a loud voice “What are you fearing? Let them come and crash them.” Meanwhile voices of women around were heard asking him to leave them, “Balekeni”, the women said.
Then mr Banda later emerged from the room where he was being questioned accompanied by his lawyers who later told local media that he was only being interviewed.
However Lusaka division police commanding officer Mhlakeni Zulu told local media that Mr Banda was warned an cautioned for proposing violence
“A warn and caution statement has been recorded,” he said, “He was proposing violence, contrary to section 91 subsection 1, A and C”, that was what he was called for, he added, “he has denied the charge.”
