Latest Opinion Poll released and conducted by a Geneva based NGO has revealed that opposition PF Strongman, Michael Sata is way ahead in the poll conducted by Geneva-based International Network of Social Science Researchers.
According to the poll released by Country coordinator Brian Mulewa Kashitu over the weekend, if elections were held today, Mr. Sata would capture 50.55 percent of the estimated 3,618,691 votes nationally, followed by President Rupiah Banda with 30.42 percent and Hakainde Hichilema at 17.66 percent.
The remainder of 1.37 percent, according to Kashitu, will be shared among the remaining 7 presidential candidates with Charles Milupi accounting for just over 1 percent.
The opinion poll which was conducted between August 17 and September 3, 2011 has also predicted that the voter turn out percentage in 2011 will be at about 70 %.
However, the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) on the Copperbelt has disputed an opinion poll suggesting that Patriotic Front president Michael Sata is the most popular and preferred presidential candidate for this year’s general elections.
Copperbelt MMD Provincial Information and Publicity Secretary, Yotam Mutayachalo complained that the poll conducted by Geneva-based International Network of Social Science Researchers is not a true reflection of what is obtaining on the ground.
Mr. Mutayachalo, however, says President Banda is very popular and if elections were conducted today, the MMD would still retain presidency owing to his commitment to developing the country.
Mr. Mutayachalo said that the ruling party would rather stick to an opinion poll conducted recently by Centre for Policy Dialogue Executive Director Dr. Neo Simutanyi indicating that the ruling party will carry the day.

I like this poll. It is not paid for but conducted independently. What the poll states is what think might happen. To the MMD and all its supporters mark the following , if you see long quees on that day in over 80% of the polling station then just know that you are gone. No amount of rigging will help you. You will need to stuff the ballot boxes with over 200,000 votes. So I am sorry your survival tricks will call for a lot.

When the MMD was tipped to win, you said they sponsored the opinion poll. So can we also say you have sponsored the poll to tip you as the winners? Ma guys, you have over done it. You should have limited yourselves in the range of 30% to 40%. The way you have done it clearly shows that you were cooking the results. Anyway, we will see who has been truthful next week.

Well, its common sense though sometimes not common. If I may ask, why is MMD pulling down PF’s campaign posters when PF is not pulling down theirs? If they fill will carry the day what may, why even campaign. They are scared of unknown!!!

You need to make a few adjustments to your predicted results. The percentage for OTHER is too high in provinces such CB and Luapula. Most of these votes are most likely to be taken by MMD. YOUR NORTHERN PROVINCE PREDICTION IS THE MOST ACCURATE. The percentage for OTHERS in western is likely to be higher though I still expect MMD to have overall the highest votes in western province. Sothern is another promising province for the MMD it’s possible they can get around 35%. In general my prediction is that in provinces where PF will be leading the margin will be very minimal with MMD. The same applies for a lead with UPND.
