Outgoing President Rupiah Banda has conceded defeat and congratulated newly elected Republican President Michael Sata on his victory.
In a statement obtained by QFM today, Mr Banda has also thanked the people of Zambia for granting him the honour and pleasure to serve them and urged them to rally behind the new President.
He says he has no ill feeling in his heart, and has wished President Sata well as President.
Mr Banda adds that it is not for the MMD to deny the Zambian people victory, stating that the MMD never rigged, cheated or knowingly abused state funds.
The former president says the MMD did what it thought was best for the Zambian people and hoped that the new government will do the same.
Mr Banda further states that the MMD must face reality that sometimes it is time for change.

Indeed ba RB. We know you are good with words.Too bad how you raped ZNBC. We could not have a balanced news item! Thanks to the Post once again for informing us on many developments by your crooked team. Now, zamtel saga, Constitutional failure, london judgement, finance bank sale, Chineese killer investors, ACC abuse of office, last minute developments etc. Where are those vuvuzelas cheating you now? You are crying alone ba Bwezi, with ka Thandiwe very dissapointed with you.Go to the farm and write a book about your 36 months in State House.

Bye bye RB we wish you well in all that will follow you in your life though at one time you said ” I will never hand over power to Micheal Sata.” Thanks to the pressure of the voter’card and the patriotic people of this great nation.

I think he has done the least for Zambia of all the Presidents. Corruption has risen. He has been in the air more than at home. He has been centrally instrumental in assisting to steal a local bank and literally hand it to a SA Bank for a 50th of it’s value. I am sure President Sata will investigate and take action where necessary.

Am very disappointed with the so called national television ZNBC Whats wrong with these pipo. They did not even inform the pipo of Zambia that the president from Botswana and Malawi.
The other thing is that the picture was not good it was like they were using my domestic camera and they did not even care.
Can somebody please tell these pipo that RB is no more the new president is HE Sata. they will find it difficult to work with him becoz they were so biased towards our president.
my question is were you forced to cover this event event?

good point lee and secondly the security also failed to do their job. if someone mad enough wanted to get to the President they would have done that easily. failure to provide adequate security to the President is unacceptable and should not happen again. Protect the Presidency and not an individual whether you like the individual or not. it was also poorly organised and i blame the secretary to cabinet for not adequately taking hold of the situation. was it to embarrass H.E M.C Sata? we shud respect every president whether we like him or not.

ZAMBIANS PLEASE WAKE UP, CORRUPTION IS A CLIME & IT REMAINS SO
Guy!! MMD is now dead and burried, it was a ****** pregnant dog that gave birth to Rhupia Banda a corrupt failure who made Zambians second-class to foreigners…
Even if he cries, they are just crocodile tears…. He must pay stolen public money back which was met for repairing roads, schools, hospitals, street lights and many other.
Welcome SATA!! tulibakali…fwebana ba Nkalamo, abana ba Mbwili, abana ba Cobra.

Looking at the resounding and definite bashing of ‘Dr’ Banda got from the King Cobra, Sata is the REAL PRESIDENT OF ALL ZAMBIANS and the PF the real choice of the Zambians. The former VP and most cabinate ministers of RB contested in remote area constituences were a loaf of bread, chitenga material and sugar helped them to win the election. This is a clear sign of political incompetence… VP G.SCOT that was a LAND SLID victory…
