The victory of Zambia’s new President Michael Sata would be interesting in Malawi, not necessarily because the triumph of an opposition leader may have pointers to its own elections in the next three years but because the new President is actually not welcome in Malawi, if the law is followed to the letter.
According to legal practitioner Ralph Kasambara, Sata was arrested at Chileka international Airport in Blantyre 15 March, 2007, when he flew into Malawi to hold talks with former president Bakili Muluzi.
“No reasons were given for his arrest but he was detained for several hours at Blantyre Police Station, where he was declared Persona Non Grata (PNG) or Prohibited Immigrant (PI),” Kasambara said.
He was then driven 500 kilometres and dumped at Mwami Border Post on the Malawi-Zambia border.
The maverick politician they call ‘King Cobra’ in Zambia actually sued Malawi for defamation and character assassination.
“He sued for defamation and wrongful detention,” said Kasambara, who represented the man who would be President of the copper-rich nation, adding “the case was concluded, we are just waiting for Justice Healey Potani’s judgement.”
According to laws, Sata is still PNG or PI in Malawi, unless Chief Immigration Officer Elvis Thodi reverses his status. Thodi was not answering his phones on Friday.
Despite President Bingu wa Mutharika congratulating the new Zambian leader and urging Malawians to celebrate with their northern neighbours, he flew to Lusaka but it was uncertain he attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new Zambian leader.
However, it seems he was not at the actual ceremony, for he was not seen anywhere on the high table.
It was not even clear whether he was invited by Sata’s handlers, for he announced his plans to fly to Lusaka way before King Cobra was declared winner.

Who needs Malawi? Let Mutharika roast in his embarrassment. That Mutharika supported 2 of his rogue countrymen (RB and WB that godfather of violence) as they unsuccessfully tried to drag Zambia back into the stone age. Our President should not even visit Malawi – what for? When he is only too welcome in Washington, London, Hong Kong… or anywhere else in the world that matters? We beat Malawi at football, we are more democratic, we have a better GDP, we are more mordenised society, we are more educated… what do we need from this country that always tries to mess us up? …Voodoo? Come on, the quicker we toss Mutharika out the better for us!

Fellow bloggers, we shall castigate our neighbours. We have rogue politicians everywhere. We had our own kafupi, the master dribbler, Rupiah, the master plunderer. Under those leaders we were looked down upon as well.
Malawians need us and the sweetest revenge will be to encourage our brothers and sisters across the border, in Malawi and Zimbabwe to bring in change by removing the dictators disguised in one party participatory democracy.

President Sata will not lose sleep because one impoverished sub-saharan country ruled by one Mbinga Wa Mutharika. He can hang.He is just bitter just like the Zambian Watchdog are because their preferred candidate have tumbled hard.
Let them wait because we are going to also carry out some retariatory measures.Firstly they must be ready to recieve William Tekere Banda and then his former boss then we do without them. What do we lose by not having diplomatic relationship. After all we can do without as its evidenced when Maj Kachingwe was there. He never added any value to the relatioship because he was only drinking beer.
To hell with Mutharika after all his days are numbered. The Malawans just like the Zambians did will soon make changes. We will soon see.

zambians!
i warned you before the results were out that, inauguration ceremony rehearsal is on at mulungushi. no one took heed.
i warned again that mmd has rigged and banda is winning by 18,000 votes, no one paid any attention.
now what was that, good for nothing, doing in our country? who invited him? ofcourse not our “PI” president.
on that fateful evening, mambilima cound not muster enough courage to go the mmd’s way hence the delay that you witnessed. people power was just too much.
countrymen, banda was not ready to give up power just like that, he was pressured. that does not make him a great leader does it? more to come.
