Sata Tells Off Chinese Ambassador On ‘Growing Number’ Of Chinese ‘Expatriates’ In Zambia

Republican President, Michael Sata has told the Chinese ambassador that there are too many Chinese coming into Zambia and that they are paying Zambians low wages.
But the Chinese ambassador Zhou Yuxiao reminded Sata that there are Zambian bosses who pay worse than Chinese.
This was at State House Monday morning when the Chinese evnoy tendered a congratulatory letter from Chinese President Hu Jintao.
Sata said the Patriotic Front -PF- government is concerned the number of Chinese expatriates who are coming into the country to take up jobs which Zambians are capable of doing is unlimited.
Sata said Zambians are grateful to the Chinese government for funding the Lusaka General Hospital and the Ndola Stadium.
In response, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Zhou Yuxio said the issue of low wages was not only a problem with the Chinese investors but that there are many of local investors that pay their workers lower wages than the Chinese investors.
Zhou said China will work with the current government to ensure that all Chinese investors follow local labour laws.
The Chinese envoy says it is in the best interest of the Chinese investors to use the local people because it is cost effective.
Earlier the Chinese Ambassador and the President held a closed door meeting.

YES! Atlast we have somewhere to start from. The Chinese envoy has admitted that chinese pay low wages, but went further to say other employers also pay low or even lower than the chinese.
It is not legal defence for any one to say “he stole because others also steal”
Therefore the Chinese must lead the way and start paying better wages comensulate with the labour requirements and let the law deal with other culprits.

Not only do we need a strong and powerful president but also Strong Union leaders to support the President Unlike Labour leaders like MUZ acting President Mukuka Charles who castigated the PF manifesto and termed it Hollow Under RB and quickly turns around to congratulated the popular president to win His support. That seem to be eating with both hands. We need to show them who they really are.N.U.M.A.W SECRETARY KCM NKANA BRANCH

Whether in closed door meetings or in public, your excellency, the message should be the same. These investors are not here because we need a favour from them. They want to make huge profits and go. We want a fair share of our wealth as they also benefit from what they do not have back in their home countries.

Cabinet should be restricted to sixteen no deputies, let ZNBC compete with Muvi Tv no hand outs and provincial ministers should be part of the cabinet and be given K2Trillion to each province to run their affairs.Mr.President combine ministries eg. Health,Enviromental,Local Govt. should be one. Commerce, Mines, transport as one.Finace,Labour,Social as one.Land and Agriculture as one. Defence,Home affairs and Foreign as one. Education, Higher education as one.

The Chinese ambassador had no point. Even if there are Zambian employers doing worse, doesn’t make his people less evil.

@Ackim- also reduce the numbers of PS and secretaries to PSs.

Reduce unnecessary and unproductive government jobs but create an environment to create jobs in agriculture, tourism, mines and manufacturing.

Foreign missions in China, India,Japan, Canada, Germany, Nigeria, Malawi and many other countries be closed. They are waste of national resources with no direct benefits to the nation
