MMD Campaign ‘Duty Free’ Vehicles Shared As Others Plan To Defect To PF To ‘Lick’
THE Vehicles which the then ruling party but now opposition MMD were using during campaigns have been shared amongst the MMD Top brass. Tumfweko has been briefed.
Sources disclosed that they decided to share the vehicles because of the uncertainity sorrounding MMD’s future in Zambian Politics.
Some Members will defect to PF soon.
On August 1, this year, opposition MMD Leader Banda during a function held at Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka launched the 2011 election campaign for the MMD.
After the launch, Maj Kachingwe started allocating campaign materials to its adopted candidates in form of bicycles, bales of chitenge material, motor vehicles and T-Shirts.
On August 7, 2011, Opposition MMD leader and then President Ruphiah Banda officiated at a function in Lusaka where the said materials which were allegedly imported into the country in large quantities were allocated.
The MMD’s campaign material was liable to import duty and other incidental taxes which ZRA negligently failed to charge and or collect on behalf of the government treasury of the Republic of Zambia.
The consignment of the MMD campaign materials included about 100 Toyota Hilux motor vehicles, bales of Chitenge materials and T-Shirts and at least 5000 bicycles all valued at over K3.5 billion.
Opposition MMD’s consignment of campaign materials was disproportionate to its income adding that the MMD had no investment portfolio or any business activity from which it would earn such income to justify the expenditure on the material.
The DEC is obliged by law to institute investigations into the source of the income or disproportionate expenditure levels by the MMD and inform the public accordingly.
However, ZRA allowed the MMD to use its imported consignment of campaign materials before import duty and other taxes were paid to the commission.

These mmd people will never change their crooked way of doing things. It is an open secret that those vehicles shall be subjected to investigations but they decide to share them. The same people are even calling for reconciliation and forgiveness! Cage them! They are unrepentant!

But have they paid duty now? If not, let ZRA confiscate, especially the cars and let GRZ allocate to various govt departments with transport needs in a lot of districts.

The all intire central shaft mining department has been left hopeless. when the managment failed to give us the over time, shift defferecial, sunday and holidays worked, dispite working had. Central shaft is the only mine which is producing a high grade and a lot of copper its also the only mine with plus 24. We went to the offices yesterday and nothing hapened please we the miners have got a lot óf responsibilities. We want the goverment of the day to come in. (Unions) i wonder what this people do becouse they are only there when someone has a curse to answer before human resouces. The people should be audited becouse we donate 35000 every month and hopin that they are going to be our voice.now totaly nothing happines. Now with the new goverment We dont want to pretend as if everything is okay as for if nothing will happen today YO WILL SEE WHAT MINES ARE CAPABLE OF DOING ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. my appeal z to those pipo close H.E Sata ,please tel him to look at the pride of former RTC employees who have not bin their terminal benefits despite retired on national interest four years ago when RTSA came into beign.most of former employees v not found anything to bcoz of lack of funds.pls look into this situation as soon as posible please.

All of you could have alerted us of this anomaly and stopped MMD from gaining an unfair advantage in the just ended Election.
My question is why have any of these offices above not tendered a resignation. Instead they are printing Congratulatory messages! President Michael, please give them a chance to resign? If they do not resign and they are found wanting, we must go after them with the full force of the law. After all did they not swear to uphold the Constitution of Zambia.
When Kabimba sued the ZRA, did they not throw it out on a Technicality? What has compelled them to swing into action now. Resign now if you have any ounce of integrity!

Defectors from MMD are not at all welcome. Please remain in opposition for good. Just surrender the vehicles to the government before you are paunced on. PF won’t condone corruption but condemn it. Viva PF.
