SATA Fires All 73 District Commissioners And Orders Them To Vacate Offices And Gov’t Houses Immediately

President Michael Sata has fired all the Seventy three (73) District Commissioners and appointed civil servants to take over the positions.
The President has since directed all the dismissed district commissioners to vacate office and government homes with immediate effect.
President Sata says the District Commissioners should not be affiliated to any political party.
State House has produced a list of recommended civil servants to be appointed as District Commissioners.
And President Sata has dissolved the boards of Zambia Revenue Authority, ZESCO and the National Pensions Scheme Authority -NAPSA.
Mr Sata has also retired ZESCO Managing Director, Ernest Mupwaya and has replaced him with the former chief Executive Officer Cyprian Chitundu.
President Sata says Mr Mupwaya was dubiously appointed as Managing Director of ZESCO.
Mr Sata was speaking at State House on Monday during the swearing ceremony of Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and the new Inspector General of Police.

This is a good move and I’m glad it is civil servants who are now DC’s, but the question I have is, why does the list of prefered people for the DC roles have to come from State House, irrespective of whether these people are qualified or not?

MAN OF ACTION UNTIL NOW KENNETH KAUNDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IS STILL OPERATING WITHOUT A RADAR.IF AN AIRCRAFT UNFORTUNATLEY CRASH IT WILL BE VERY EMBARRASING.PLEASE INSTITUTE SERIOUS INVESTIGATIONS AT NATIONAL AIRPORTS COPRP.THE RADAR WAS NOT FIXED AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WERE PAID TO A BOGUS ITALIAN COMPANY. CAN THE PRESIDENT SEND INDEPENDENT TEAM NOT FROM DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL AVIATION (DCA), THEY ARE EASLY CORRUPT. ACTION IS NEEDED NOW.

The posistion of DC should have just been abolished to save our meagre resources. Appointing the so called ‘civil servats’ is no change at all!

This is what we all needed as Zambians, Mr. President. Clean the whole system and all those found wanting, let the law follow them. Show them that you are a man of action and you keep your promise not to disappoint the Zambian people, HE Sir.

    Congratulations “Man of Action”.

I’ve been talking about NAPSA , at least my WISH has been partly met . I would be happier could the word NAPSA and its functions disappear from Zambian vocabulary completely!!! and be replaced with a scheme whereby individual employees could decide which financial institution they would like to contribute their pension fund to ; liberalize the pension scheme. A new board will work for time and once they find loopholes , shoddy deals will start again . Banks are really professionals and reliable .
As for those joining PF from various opposition parties , Man of Action should not give them any positions either in PF or in government . If there are too many vacant positions , give me one then , rather than giving them to those political prostitutes , who run from one party to another like we’ve seen with the like of Dr Peter Machungwa and fellow rebels.

    Correction

A new NAPSA Board will work for a short while and once they find loopholes , shoddy deals will start again .

It’s good to hear that the would-be DCs are civil servants.Plz let it be so in order for them to executive their duties as professionals like other men and women in the civil service and NOT party cadres.

  30. correctedZ

    October 3, 2011 at 3:29 pm

Great ba kateka though am thinking you should have completely done away with posts altogether. Do we really need DCs? Keeping the 73 can-do-without DCs translates to well over ZMK 209.8 billion a year (2010 estimates)!!!! Thats 210Km of Mpika-Serenge road done just within next year!

cograts mr president 4 dissolving the NAPSA board. it is amazing 2 see the massive projects under taken by NAPSA. my appeal is 2 change the law wich say’s that a member can only claim 4 re-fund of contribution wen he or she reaches 55years of age becoz they ur some who leave wrk pre -maturely before reaching the statutory requirement of 55 years, there by subjecting them 2 live in poverty while searching 4 another job.
