PRESIDENT Michael Sata yesterday surprised parishioners at Saint Ignatius Parish in Lusaka when he arrived with about four bodyguards and only two motor vehicles following his official car.
Mr Sata took a seat in the midst of parishioners and mingled with Church goers before the service started without heavy protection.
“He is really a simple president. Where do you find a Head of State who can just walk and sit right in the middle where ordinary people are? “We were looking for vehicles when he came, only to see one small car in front and another one behind,” said a congregant, Lisa Mubita.
She said President Sata was driven into the Church like an ordinary citizen and walked to a pew in the middle of the Church.
When he arrived, he took time greeting his neighbours before he sat to follow the service that was presided over by Father Charles Chilinda. Father Chilinda preached about love and care during the service that started at 08:00 hours. “The things we do all the time must make people happy. We must be thankful for what we are and love must unite us,” he said.

Have you ever been to Botswana? Ask how their leaders move without body guards many times; and how a particular day of the week any mutswana can go there to speak to him. Security becomes a key issue only if a president is not serving people. The moment he starts doing so, you the people will be his protection. We know thieves can try to kill him but we ask for security personnel to carryout risk assessments before he goes there.

Indeed, Sata is a humble president but I think he should not compromise on his security. We still need him. Those who are bitter and frustrated might just take advantage and cause our dear beloved President harm…God forbid

Spot on Orgasm. If u are at peace with your neighbours, whatever u perceive them to be, u need have heavy security. Heavy security shields from the realities of life, leading to disconnection from the pipo that put u in power.

Its good to have sach a humble person like Sata for a republican president. You are indeed a president of the people.
If you could kindly extend the same gesture and attend chuch services in other congregations like Pentecostals since you are president of the whole (churches,NGO etc…) country and possibly arrange to visit the Sinagog Church of All Nations in Nigerial for a blessing like FTJ did.
We love and are praying for you H.E. Pres. M.C SATA

President of the People for the People, nambapina bonse.
God will always protect him, Pipo dnt worry about Mr.Sata’s security because we all work for the office of the President now.
Suggestion and appeal to the President: Congrigate at our Catholic church every sunday and after go to another church if you can, e.g, U.C.Z, Aglican, and the rest, I am sure other churches would love to see you.
We Love you.

Hey guys,
Whats the fuss all about? Before he become president, did he come across as some one aloof or full of themselves? Or are people expecting the old adage that ” Power changes people ” to apply to Sata? Can someone tell me if Sata ever behaved any different the times that he has held office?

who protects man? definitely its God. Whether at Statehouse or anywhere else even the closest body guard can kill him. Let the man enjoy life. You zambian what do you want. A president not visiting people you say is a bad one, then he visits us again you say is compromising security. then what do you want.
After all do you know all who were in the church that day. some could have been security people.

I don’t want my President to become too high minded. He must mingle with ordinary Zambians for him to know exactly what they are going through than only get reports from those around him who may not even tell him the truth. But surely he needs protection from MMD thugs!!!!!

This is for the information of those who may not be aware. President Sata has always congregated at St Ignatius Parish of the Catholic Church. He regularly attends mass/church service there. Even during tight schedules like the campaign period, he regularly attended mass. We should therefore be happy that our country is now headed by a true child of God. HE is not just a Catholic but a Christian.
