HH Tells PF To Follow The Law In Graft Fight

United Party for National Development UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has advised the Patriotic Front government to follow the law in its pursuit of the fight against corruption.

Mr. Hichilema tells QFM news that it is important that the PF government sticks to the laws that are in place.

He says some of the decisions being made by the PF government raise a lot of questions when it comes to adhering to the laws of the land.

The UPND leader further adds that much as the UPND would want corruption to be fought effectively, it is important that the PF government sticks to the laws.

Mr. Hichilema claims that the dismissal of the Anti-corruption commission Director General Godfrey Kayukwa was not done in a lawful manner.

He says government should have set up a tribunal to deal with the matter before action could be taken.

Meanwhile Citizens Forum executive secretary Simon Kabanda says there is no need to condemn President Michael Sata on the changes he is making in the country.

Mr. Kabanda says what President Sata needs instead is support if the country is to get back on the right track.

Speaking to QFM, Mr. Kabanda notes that it had become clear during the previous MMD administration that most organizations and individuals were politically compromised thereby making it hard to act in the interest of citizens.

Mr. Kabanda says change in most of the Parastatal organizations was inevitable as they had thrown away their professionalism.

He says it is good that president Sata has given an assurance that he will not give cadres, public service positions, as was the case in the previous government.

Mr. Kabanda has since expressed optimism that the country will in the next few months see objective institutions.

When president Obama, addressed the Ghanian parliament during his first vist to Africa, after taking over from George W. Bush, he made a very important statement that Africa does not need strong men but strong institutions. As long as we do not have strong institutions, it will not be easy to fight corruption. We need a strong and independent Judiciary, ACC, DEC to mention.Take forexample, the William Banda scenario.Because, William Banda was close to the former president, the police could not arrest him despite him committing several atrocities.Take for example, when Tony Blair was UK Prime Minister,
police arrested his daughter for under age drinking. This is an example of a country with strong and independent institutions. It can never happen in Zambia.

I fully support the dismisal of Kayukwa because
he could have interfered with investigation even if a tribunal was set up while in remains in office.

Remember the DORA Siliya RP Capital Saga. Ruphia set up a tribunal which found Dora wanting but the whole investigation was a waste of time and money because the President never acted in good faith when setting up the Tribunal. The former president after the Tribunal submitted its report to him promised to study the document and get back to the Zambian people. However, he secretly connived with Dora to appeal the Tribunal findings and the appeal was ruled in favour of Dora Siliya. The former president never got back to the Zambian people but instead swiftly appointed Dora Siliya as Minister of Education immediately after the appeal went in Dora’s favour. In a nut shell, I would like to say that we need to come up with a constitution which will ensure that we have strong and independent institutions where people will discharge without fear of being fired by the appointing authority if they act professionally and with integrity.

Check UPND statistics after the death of Anderson Kambela Mazoka, then you will know that HH is surely a failure. The party has been losing popularity slowly. This only shows that HH is not a leader of any sort and he has no value in the current political circles. To assure you , HH WIll not and never rule this great nation. It was rumored that he was paid billions to destroy the PF – UPND pact and forgeting that he was destroying himself.Eventually, even southern province will ditch him after seeing the fruits of the man of action.

I feel sorry for HH. He is too big headed and blinded by his money. It is also painful that he spent a lot of money trying to outdo MMD. The wheechairs you distributed could still be distributed without using it as a campaign tool. Shame!!! Compare Sata’s campaign he used only his voice. HH try to grow. You still have a chance to form a pact in 2021 with PF.Ciricise constructctively, in bemba we say “Ukupoka icisenda ku nkoko kunakilila”, meaning if you want to get a worm from the chiken, give it millet, it will drop the worma, iy you try to chase it, it will run with the worm. Aain we say “Ukufunya ukubiko kulupako kunakilila” meaning if your hand is stuck in a hole of an old tree, you have to be flexible and slow when taking it out, but if you want to take out using power, your hand will end up broken. This free advise to HH. Uushufwa pe shiwi limo, napeyengi pene teti omfwe. Banda ali ni “Mushebwa” tepapa ayile na nobusali mu ma elekishion, abantu bali mutatanika pamo na citongo wakwe Tola Shiliya.

HH I used to support you when you joined the PACT, but later realized how greedy you are. This is evident in the way you joined up with MMD. We saw your adverts on ZNBC and the daily national papers. But what was the result, you both failed lamentably. HH grow to stand own your feet and listen to the Zambians. Taking sides will not help you but weaken your popularity. MMD are finished, did you ever think of that? I can promise you, they will never return efyo baile. UNPD is a good party but the leadership is a waste of young blood like you. Just hand over the party to vibrant people who can lead better than you. YOU HAVE FAILED YOUR PARTY AND THE PEOPLE!!!!

HH is finished and will NEVER rule this country. The man looks so annoyed always from the time Sata was declared Republican President. NAREP’s Chipimo and ADD’s Milupi will no doubt surpass HH in coming General Elections, 2016.

Below is UPND’s falling popularity and performance in last four General Elections:
    2001 – 29%
    2006 – 26%
    2008 – 22%
    2011 – 18%
UPND is finished people, and HH must face reality. Tis sad Southern Province is not moving along-side with the rest of the country. Remove Southern Province and see what remains of HH and his finished UPND.

HE The President needs our support. He is guaranteed of mine – 101%

Son of the Soil, which soil are u referring to? Your thinking is below par & leaves much to be desired hence, its inane of u to be called son of the soil rather son of a *****. I say this because your level of thinking is equated to that of your under five up to nothing HH who lacks moral & political integrity. HH is a frustrated lunatic who is dismayed with Micheal’s achievements,he is made an envious mark admired by many in the history of Zambia, firstly,by wrestling power from the incumbent Rupiah’s corrupt demagoguery immoral minions disguised in MMD. Secondly,by pledging to clean the corruption debris infiltrated by Bwezani’s gang, this is evident in the strides our dear kindhearted president Sata is bringing to the fore. In all honest,do you need an inquiry to sack ACC Director Kayukwa or indeed arrest HH for massive thieving when Zambians entrusted him to oversee the privatization process on their behalf. What did HH do? He abandoned his moral obligation & chose to line his pockets. All of a sudden HH became rich & sat on several boards of the privatized companies, that was a big slap our faces & today,HH should not walk head tall because we know what transpired & only waited for President Sata to assume the top seat when HH tricks will be laid bare just like his compatriot ACC Director,Rupiah,Mupwaya too numerous to itemize. This is why HH is not at peace with himself & ever worried since our good Sata assumed presidency, wait Mr under five HH day of reckoning is near & please your fellow Southerners who still wish think that he will one day win. Believe you me,such things only occur in dreams

HH,honestly, which tribunal do you want? I hate people like you who hardly have proper stance in life. The fact that you’re rich deosn’t make wise. From your start of political carrier which is now almost finished, you have never impressed me(us).I will never believe nor think that you can do atleast 1/2 of what Sata is capable of doing, yours is pure self interest. Keep very Zee, you’re a political failure.

Please I want someone to answer me I have these questions, 1. What good has HH seen in mmd and RB today? When he joined the pact with pf he was preaching about corruption and the poor governance of mmd. 2. Is the would be Zambian president HH interested in serving the people’s interests or himself? If he loves us and want to serve us Why did he come out of the pact and all of a sudden embraces the party he was demonising?

I used to be a great admirer of UPND and graciously voted for Mazoka( MHSRIP) in 2001.However , after listening to the pomposity, self centredness of HH,my support began to wane early last year and switched my allegiance.I cant believe this man`s arrogance, its unbelievable! The man thinks having money and going to school( did ichikwakwa at Unza) is every thing it takes to ascend to republican president office.Madala you need to reach and touch the pipo.Change or fast drift into oblivion.Power to the Pipo!Mr Sata do not be distracted by these disgruntled losers, you on the right tract.Bring sanity to our Nation

  47. Confucious

    October 6, 2011 at 11:04 am

Agreed, we need strong institutions. But laws need to to followed. All these institutions are weak because there is no security of tenure. Look at how the judges behave; no one can summarily dismiss a judge just as no one can just wake up and say that the president has been be impeached. Legal procedures will have to be followed. if the appointments of chief executive officers of the institutions like DEC, ACC, PHRC, ECZ etc are ratified by parliament, why should the president have the power to fire such officers summarily? The key to having independent institutions is security of tenure.
