THE ruling Patriotic Front (PF) on the Copperbelt says it will next week petition election results in the four rural constituencies it lost to the MMD in last month’s 9/20 elections.
The PF plans to petition election results for the Lufwanyama, Mpongwe, Masaiti and Kafulafuta parliamentary seats, according to the government controlled Daily Mail.
The PF won 18 parliamentary seats out of the 22 on the Copperbelt.
PF Copperbelt provincial chairman Rebby Chanda said in an interview in Ndola on October 6 that the ruling party has discovered irregularities in the election results for Mpongwe, Masaiti, Lufwanyama and Kafulafuta constituencies.
“There were a lot of anomalies in the election results of the four constituencies. We intend to petition the results by next week,” he said.
Mr Chanda also said the ruling party has devised a plan to reorganise itself in the four rural constituencies.
He said the PF will tour Mpongwe, Lufwanyama, Masaiti and Kafulafuta to strengthen its structures.
“We have made inroads but we want to strengthen our structures in the rural parts of the Copperbelt. In the next five years, we will be more popular and stronger in rural Copperbelt,” he said.

when one is not happy with the outcome, i feel petitioning is the right thing to do.there were so much under hand methods in the previuos elections but thank God the truth is unveiling and no one must be denied justice.you sound like a pro MMD who seems to be a beneficially of corrupt practices hence the need for you to be investigated as well.

its very unfortunate to ignore coopperbelt in the share of the national cake in terms of development especially mufulira which contributes a lot to foreign income on which the nation greatly depend.outsiders may think the town is the haven of development when instead it was turning into a ghost town.

This is becoming big headed now. If this continues we will have a new MMD in a PF skin. Cos those in rural areas will now be intimidated to change alliance. Better to work hard to recapture in 2016

Poyax, Petitioning is not a bad idea besides we all know how crooked the Movement for Mass Destruction was. The former president Bwesheni Ndalama Bandala is on record of saying he was going to insure certain constituencies were retained by Movement for Mass Destruction (MMD) at all costs. That aside it is a democratic right for any candidate or party who feels aggrieved to petition. So ifyakulabako takuli.

Being in the ruling party, the court is likely to rule in favour of the PF should the part petition the results. This would be so not because the PF would have good grounds but because of the likely influence of incumbency on the judiciary

av bn a strong PF supporter from 2002 to date but i cnt see fairness in petitioning some of these parliamentary seats. We shud jst accept the fact that we only managed to get 18 out of 22 seats from the c/belt which is quiet gud. I know that we may try to take advantage of being in power now to call for bye-elections and i know that we cn win because we have all the influence in our hands but plz lets consider how much resources in form of time and money are needed for such elections because at the same time the our president needs such resources to move the country forward. Am nt saying we shud nt have bye-elections in the country but that we shud av them only when necessary and the evidences are abusolute.

Chipata Central(Lameck mangani), Kafulafuta(Patrick Mwanawasa)Chongwe,(Masebo Sylvia), here in these constituencies Rupiah promised that he would make sure tabawinine..meaning state machinery was invested in making sure, coz RB thought he would win and didnt want to share parliament with these guys. the need to petition, which is a human right is but just to unmask the “Make sure” that RB promised. remember we still need the majority in parley. so where we can claim, let us do so

I agree with you bashimpundu. The playing field was not leveled. Imagine playing footbal against the referee and his/her assitantants. In addition the ref even assures you that you will not win the game even if you scored 2-0!!! Some pettitions are definitly most welcome. That is JUSTICE myfriends.

If irregularities are there and they are certain of winning, I say go on PF and petition. Politicians must learn that winning AT-ALL-COST does NOT pay.
They must learn to win farely and democratically!
If the results were stolen, just imagine what else the thieves that “won” will steal again!

Is it swesweswe swe or twetwetwe. What ever it was, it was very a very foolish foolish slogan. Go on guys petition those results and let us see how they will campagn without those bicycle, canters and the foolish DCs on their side. Remember guys not when tomorrow comes but if tomorrow comes. For my friends in MMD I know you dont want that day to come. Petition those results our job will be to vote and possibly be fed once again.

Since we are talking of democracy, let them petition. Those saying its not a good idea to petition could be the mmd cadres.
