Free Health Care Services Coming Before 90 days Elapses

Health Deputy Minister Dr Patrick Chikusu says government is determined to improve the health care system in the country.
Dr Chikusu says the PF government has a target of offering free quality health care in 90 days.
He says that the need for health care service in the country is enormous.
Dr Chikusu was speaking during a hand over ceremony of various medical equipment and cleaning materials worth 50 million Kwacha to Chawama First level hospital by Standard Chartered Bank.
He says government will continue to foster the private public partnership to better the lives of Zambians.
He has thanked Standard Chartered bank for its continued partnership with the Ministry of Health.
And Standard Chartered Bank Managing Director Mizinga Melu says the bank’s commitment is to demonstrate support to the community.
Earlier, Chawama Health Centre Nursing Sister, Jane Botha said that the hospital is grateful for the continued support from the community.

Segregation is the adultery of an illicit intercourse between injustice and immorality.

    Martin Luther King Jr.
    The above quotation is true here at FQMO Mining Division, This is what the management is now doing, and for so long time the Management, has completely failed to give the locals who are on senior pay roll the following things;
    Condition of Service.
Pay scale is unknown (or grading)
Recently there are working on a pay rise for the “some people” who on senior pay roll, while some have been left out; we do not know why?
People who are left out are; Safety Officers, HR Officers, Maintenance Planners, Stores & Purchasing Officers, Training Officers. ETC
The question, we are putting across or asking is why this Segregation? Does it mean us in this Category we have become unproductive. Can we have high productivity of copper ore minus us procuring spare parts?, or can we have good availabity of equipment us planning and scheduling Jobs? Can we have good operator skills minus us training and up grading those skills? How about HR functions.
We make a plea to our Management to seriously consider this issue and work professionally to void retrogression.
We also ask our Management to check with Kansanshi Mine, how they treat their workers on who are one senior pay roll.

We are all seriously contribution our energies, our skills, our ability, our hearts and our souls to the Company (FQMO) and we also at liberty to have a Better Condition of Service.

We are circulating this plea to the labour Ministry that the new PF government and the press is made to understand the Segregation we go through here at FQMO.

Next if this is not addressed will unearth the racial Segregation

Free our health services from donor dependency first before you can start proclaiming free services everywhere. Will we always be beggars (47+ yrs after independence) with a copper bowl…where is our pride?

The problem is that people in this beloved country are now used to suffering. Ladies and Gentlemen our population is too small to fail to have free things with the abandunt resources that this country is endowed. What is required is proper managent of these resources.

@ fabs most countries do have free health care where you have a medical card and you get some free medical services, depending on your income, if they can do that zambia can too, zambia is not that poor its the people we put into poor before that made us poor.

Bwana labour minister, what we need especially in KCM is the harmonization of salaries. There is no way people working in the same company have a discrepancy of over 500%, its total madness. An expatriate and certain Zambians will get US$6000 dollars equivalent where as certain Zambian will get US$600 equivalent. Honestly speaking where on earth can we have such a difference? Besides most of the experts dont know anything or they do jobs which can effeclively be done by Zambians. Why should import accountants and mining engineers from India worse still boiler makers. It is a shame for a mining nation like Zambia to embrace such ****** acts.

Am not sure about if provision of free health services will be solution to the many health issues. I think that free health services should only be given to those that can not manage because if was given universally, it will be wasteful of resources. As a country we should start investing more in prevention than curative because 80% the diseases can be prevented. Most of the prevention methods are high impact cost effective measures and could help the country save more money from been spent on curative services. I would even propose to ama lume His excellence MCS that “ministry of health” be renamed to ” Ministry of “Promotion,Public and Curative Health”. I dont believe in having enough medicines ,enough equipment, mobile or non mobile hospital , enough medical personel will solve the health problem of the people of Zambia

Primary healthcare is already free in this country…cost sharing starts at the general hospital and Tertiary hospital level for non-referred patients.
