SOME CHARACTERS ARE JUST TRIBAL AND I THINK THEY COULD EVEN BE MORE TRIBAL THAN THE WORD ITSELF BECAUSE EVERYTHING sata DOES, THEY FIND A TRIBAL CONNOTATION TO IT.

I GUESS IF HE SAID THE SAID UNIVERSITY WILL BE BUILT IN CHOMA THEY’D STILL SAY SOMETHING TRIBAL LIKE HE WANTS TO ISOLATE “US” SO THAT WE STOP GOING TO UNZA, OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

WAKE UP, YOUR WISH IS NOT EVERYBODY’S COMMAND!

muchinga province-for some of us who work and leave in northern province, this is great news indeed.N/P is the largest -12 districts and least developed..this division means muchinga will have ,its own budgetary allocation,a general hospital-improved health service delivery, mordern infrastracture in the provincial town and other district towns.

Our great Leader who cares, thank you Mr.P i even hear that minister were attending your workshop at state house on performance and serving the citizen,am really blown away, all these great ideas are for the benefit of the Zambians, not RB&Sons thieving convoy,or company.Northern Province is too big hence some of the small town can not receive the distribution of resources equally,Livingstone will always receive favors and benefit from outside and from the central Government,so we need to extend to another town in the province to benefit so that the entire province can have more job creations and receive more benefits, guy this does not require an intelligence officer to explain these basics,we need to expand and narrow down specific responsibilities to provincial PS’s and that will lead to specific job creation in specific provinces and most of these guys doing nothing will be able to go and work in different industries and reduce the congestion in lusaka, then we all rejoice. This will help us not to forget certain towns which have been underdeveloped by our thieves,it will be very easy to see and know whats happening or whats not happening in each province.Bravo MSC thousands are with you, never mind the minority malicious talkers.

Once upon a time, Luapula province was part of northern province. This is the second time the province is being divided. I would like to urge my fellow Zambians to stop looking at anything with a tribal mind. Muchinga Province will have a very small population of Bembas as compared to the Northern province. This provnce will house the Namwanga, Iwa, Lambya, Tumbuka, Nyika, Bisa, Lala and Bemba speaking people. Bembas are only in parts of Chinsali and Mpika. As Zambians we should develop habits of travelling around our country so that we can understand other people and the way they live.
I wish the President had also considered creating another district by dividing Mpika which is the largest district in Zambia. Actually, its is bigger than some countries in Europe.
    Stay blessed Zambia.

Although currently biased in favour of the pf Government (which I wud have voted for if I could) I want to thank the tumfweko team for always keep us zambians away from home well informed of developments. Pls keep us informed when they mess up as well. So far so goood tho!

I subscribe to the view that Mpika District should be subdivided too. [Kalomo was once the largest in Zambia, but it was subdivided, and now we have Kazungula, which was part of Kalomo District. Itezhitezhi was once part of Namwala District, but look at how vast Itezhitezhi still is.]
MPIKA IS SIMPLY TOO LARGE A DISTRICT.

There is no doubt that Northern Province is still very underdeveloped. In that vain. I’m encouraged that mines should soon be started in Western province – which is similarly still so underdeveloped.

Coming fro South, I REALLY GOT FLABBERGASTED WHEN I TOURED THE ABOVE-CAPTIONED PROVINCES – THEY ARE COMPARATIVELY VERY UNDERDEVELOPED. [IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT FROM MPIKA TO KASAMA, IT ALL PITCH DARKNESS ALL ROUND, ALL THE WAY!!!]. I USED TO FEEL FRIGHTENED OF ANY POSSIBLE BREAKDOWN ALONG THAT STRETCH, REALLY…(ZERO,ZERO TOWN SHIPS, NOR COMMERCIAL FARMS… ALMOST ALL THE WAY)

HH is not a factor in the development of Zambia. He will never be factor. He was instrumental in pocketing money from the privatization of Zambian industries and mines. I hope that the privatization exercise can now be thoroughly investigated so we may all learn how HH made the money he brags about. What a big fool! He is a perpetual opportunist and behaves like illiterates in Zambians villages. There are intelligent Tongas out there but not this *****.

This is interesting, while the new boma has reduced the number of ministries, provinces have been upped to ten and other commissions and task forces are still being created – negation of a negation tata!! For me despite these seemingly contradictions, what is key is job creation by the end of the day. So it is a good move in the right direction.

Develpment has to be spread across the country. Building a University in already congested city is not a good idea at all. Students bring money and this should have been in a city with less employment oportunities..

I’m not funny of HH but I think the way some bloggers come out against him, including the Post, its just personal hatred and jealousy. Personally I have no problem with him, he has been a successive business man and I have lent alot from him. Remember that an employer will never make you rich as he himself is always striving to be richer. So dont just criticize HH even when it is not worth. Sata just need an opposition, he is not an angel, he needs to be checked as Zambia has not become his personal to holder by virtue of winning the elections. If he messes up, regardless of our political affiliation, we will all suffer. So far so good on his part.

@Jimmy you have probably not read the complete speech that the President delivered this morning. Here is an extract on the PF government Policy on education: “Mr. Speaker,
Our government regards education as a key to unlocking the human potential leading to prosperity and national development. Currently the whole education system requires extensive review. Primary and secondary education is characterized by low enrollment levels and poor education standards.
A growing number of our population is increasingly losing confidence in our education system to the extent that some parents are now sending their children to private schools at a high cost.
Our universities and colleges do not only have dilapidated infrastructure but are also faced with a shortage of staff and appropriate teaching and learning materials. The PF education policy will, therefore, aim at increasing school enrollment and improving access, quality and relevance of academic education through curriculum review at all levels.
Further, our government will provide facilities for early childhood education, re-introduce compulsory primary and secondary education and establish universities and technical colleges in every province and rehabilitate the existing ones.
Staff recruitment will also be scaled up to meet the demand in these institutions. To this end, my government will review the education act of 2011 to bring it in line with patriotic front’s education policy.
Furthermore, the PF government will prioritize information and communication technology education from as early as primary school. Our government will enhance tertiary education and ensure that our graduates are able to compete at the international level.
As evidence of my government’s commitment in this regard, Chalimbana college and Palabana will be converted into fully fledged universities of international standards.
The Honourable Minister of Education must ensure that this programme is completed within 18 months.
In order to honour the birth place of our founding father Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, who served our country with honour and dignity for 27 years, and set the first example of a peaceful handover of power in our country and on the African continent in 1991, our government will develop Lubwa mission in Chinsali District into a university.”

@monk 2, the point that still needs to be addresed is; what is the logic in constructing a new university ‘in lusaka’ before even trying to address the many challenges being faced by the existing colleges universities? you have to be realistic monk! i hope you will still be on their side when this PF bubble blows…..

@Unza monk 3: Just read that extract from the President’s speech which i uploaded above. You will see that, as ‘Doty7′points, the President has actually highlighted that they will not just construct new Universities, but will strive to address some of the problems facing the existing Universities, which in this case will include the upgrading or rehabilitation of infrastructure. I would advise you to also read the full speech before you pass comments here, as you might be complaining about an issue or something that the PF government has outlined in the speech already about how they are going to do about it. For me, i am not in Zambia, but i think it will be great to see Universities in Chipata, Livingstone, Mongu, Kasama, etc. In fact, it doesn’t have to be in the provincial capitals only, but any preferred city by the people of each province to construct the .Versity’. If this is not just political rhetoric, then this is the right move by President Sata and his government. And if you see, also from the extract i brought up above, from the President’s speech, you will notice that the President has given the Minister of Education a specific time frame in which to kick-start some of these important developments across the country. Nevertheless, i think we should wait the Budget in order to determine if this will really be done by this government as well as how much they propose to spend on such crucial infrastructure to our nation’s development progression. To be fair, it was a very inspiring speech, something that even i never expected would come from Mr. Sata. Lets Support him, i think!

Mr. President you are president for zambia southern province inclusive. Why only one road was mentioned to be worked on in southern province? Please consider the monze- namwala. Why should one go through choma when it would be shorter to use monze to nico.

Umwana ashenda Atasha nyina ukunaya. What is wrong with some of you guys, there is nothing wrong with adding the number of universities in the country. Surely you cant tell me that in all these countries that have alot of universities, all is well. They also experience problems and infact they are on going that need to be addressed at all times. Wake Zambians let us surport our president. To me this man is our true leader who is selfless and thirsty for Zambian Development. Iwe chi observer itole!

On the issue of the new province, surely 1 does not need a degree in anything to see that this will be good for adminstration purposes. Northern province is big and people often times have to travelled very long distances to get services from minicipal and gvt offices. I welcome the presidents move. KEEP It UP MR PRESIDENT!

HH is just another chiluba who can hijack even a party. Remember the two vice presidents of UPND were Sakwiba and Chisanga and HH came in,sidelined them and took over the party. He attempted to hijack PF in the name of the Pact but bravo to our president Sata is too strong and intelligent. We don’t want chancers in Zambia to be presidents. Ruphia,HH,Chiluba.

i think building more learning institutions would be a good idea but i don’t think increasing the retirement age was a very good idea coz it may directly affect youths seeking employment.

Chinsali would be most appropriate as provincial capital for the following considerations:
    Chinsali – Mpika = about 180km
    Chinsali – Mpulungu = about 163km
    Chinsali – Nakonde = about 156km
    Chinsali – Isoka = about 78km

However, Mpika has more infrastructure, BUT:-
    M p i k a – M p u l u n g u = 343km!
    M p i k a – N a k o n d e = 380km!

AGAIN IT IS MY CONSIDERED VIEW THAT THE DUAL APPROACH OF 1. DEVELOPING MPIKA INTO A MAJOR INDUSTRIAL/TRADES CENTRE (with all those rail links), AND 2. CHINSALI INTO A PROVINCIAL ADMIN & ACADEMIC CENTRE WOULD BE THE PRAGMATIC AND ACCEPTABLE AMBITIOUS WAY FORWARD.

HOLD THE BULL BY ITS HORNS – GO FOR IT…

  36. Katiya Toonse

    October 15, 2011 at 6:15 pm

IF MY PREVIOUS POSTING WAS TO BE TAKEN ON ITS FACE VALUE, THE BORDER DISTRICT OF ISOKA SHOULD ALSO GAIN MOMENTUM BY VIRTUE OF PROXIMITY TO THE PROVINCIAL CAPITAL (CHINSALI).

OUR MAIN AMBITION MUST BE TO DEVELOP ZAMBIA…

SO GO FOR IT IN A BOLD, IMAGINATIVE, INNOVATIVE AND ASSERTIVE FASHION – INGA NOCILEMA MUCENDE ULUUJISI, NKUTATANYANA…
