SACKED Chipolopolo coach, Dario Bonetti says he will report the Football Association of Zambia to FIFA if they do not comply with his three day ultimatum to pay out his contract.
Bonetti has told bolayathu.com that his lawyer D. Findly wrote to FAZ on Wednesday issuing the ultimatum saying failure to comply would leave him no option but take the matter to FIFA.
“Yesterday (Monday) my lawyer sent an official letter to FAZ where I have asked for all the money my contract is worth…They have three days to answer and pay,” he said.
He added: “After that I will be starting the official procedure from FIFA.”
Bonetti is demanding over K5.5 billion from FAZ for terminating his contract prematurely.
Bonetti was sacked 48 hours after qualifying the Chipolopolo to the 2012 Gabon/Equatorial Guinea Africa Cup.
Football house claimed the separation was mutual but the Italian said the case was different as he had only been informed by phone.
The Italian was pocketing about K135 million a month.
Bonetti says qualification to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations gives him an automatic one-year contract extension.
By implication, Bonetti still has an additional 12 months to the initial contract that was due to expire in July 2012.
Since FAZ may have no reasonable cause for Bonetti’s exit, they would have to pay out his remaining 22 months totalling about K3.6 billion.
His assistants collectively pocket about K1.9 billion annually.
Bonetti indicated last week that he may exercise the option of reporting the matter to FIFA if FAZ fails to pay his dues.
When contacted FAZ communications officer Erick Mwanza said he had not yet seen the correspondence.
“I have not yet seen any correspondence from him but I will have to check with the registry,” Mwanza said.

RB messed up by bringing this guy into our country. Why pay a person K135 million monthly in the 1st place when many zambians are suffering? Now employ a local coach and see how much you will be paying him!

I think i recently listened to a sports programme on radio QFM where a senior FAZ official publicly mentioned that Bonnet had not signed any contract with FAZ, as he was just imposed (on FAZ)by the former President, not so? And he was very confidently saying so on radio. If this is the situation, then this guy is probably just singing a song without a voice. Who is going to give him all that huge amount of cash? We need that money to build Universities or improve health service delivery within our country. Just get back to Italy my man. We thank you for having stayed in Zambia in the past few months. Enjoy the flight. By the way, is it SAA, BA or Ethiopian airlines?

We need a commission of inquiry to probe FAZ. If FAZ were such extravagant with their friend who was reportedly employed through State House, then they deserve to be jailed too.

Paying one person K135m, that’s U$27,000 per month. Zambians at times behave as if their nation is the richest nation on earth yet it is one of the poorest. Ba Faz just get the local coach and give whatever money you have to players to motivate them. You will get the best coach in the world but if players are not motivated you will still get zero results.

I think it is good that he is suing. Why do we have to hire white people each time as though there are no local people that can teach. Why pay someone K135 million a month for football. You cant pay a doctor who saves lives that much.

FAZ settles for Renard

E-mail Print PDF
Former Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard is new Zambia coach.
FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya is expected to announce Renard’s appointment during a press briefing at 15:00 hours today.
Renard was Zambia coach between May 2008 and February 2010.
The Frenchman quit his position for a lucrative deal with the Palancas Negras of Angola where he was sacked barely six months in the contract.
Renard later joined an Algerian side where he currently is but has been keen to return to Zambia.
He guided Zambia to a third finish at the inaugural CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Renard became the first coach to take Zambia to the quarter-finals since 1994.

Its nonsense to start complaining about his package now.You yobs think you can just wake up with a hangover and fire people at will? Thats what he is entitled to and he will be paid either through FAZ itself Govt or FIFA,leave with it.

hmm! quite a nice pay.. well, im made to understand his paycheque was being cut by KCM as part of the sponsorship deal. i believe with the sacking of the guy, faz will have to pay one way or the other. one has to understand the faz deal to comment from an informed perspective. But $27,000 per month is too much, whether KCM or taxpayers money.

I totaly agree with william, thez need for us to motivate our player if we are to get the best from them, its not enough to just give the coach a good salary but also the players, besides k135million is just too much, we hope 100million is not for RB and the 35million for the italian tourist.
