HERVE RENARD New Zambian National Team Coach

The FAZ executive has come to a unanimous decision to hire the services of Herve Renard as the Zambian National Team coach.
After much debate and analysis Herve Renard has emerged the preferred candidate. He will be assisted by Patrice Beaumelle and Honor Janza. A one year agreement has been signed and FAZ hope Herve can continue where he left off Renard began his coaching career with SC Draguignan in 1999 leaving in 2001. He was Assistant at Chinese side Shanghai Cosco from 2002 to 2003, and managed English side Cambridge United in 2004. He became manager of AS Cherbourg in 2005, leaving them in 2007. He next became Assistant to Claude Le Roy for the Ghana national side. He was appointed manager of the Zambia national team in May 2008.
At the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, he led Zambia to the quarter final stage of the tournament for the first time in 14 years. Renard left his duties as Zambia manager in early April 2010 t. Two days later he agreed to become manager of Angola.
He resigned from his position as Angola manager in early October 2010
On January 21, 2011, Renard reached an agreement with Algerian club USM Alger to became the head coach of the club. Whilst taking the club to top of the Algerian Premier League, Renard has successfully applied to take over Chipolopolo.

Below is the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) PRESS STATEMENT:

FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA APPOINTS HERVE RENARD AS TRAINER OF THE ZAMBIA NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM
Following extensive consultations and deliberations with various stakeholders and partners, the Football Association of Zambia is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr Herve Renard as new head trainer of our Chipolopolo; the Zambia National Soccer Team.
This appointment is however subject Mr Renard’s acceptance of the offer to once again coach the Zambia National Team.
The Executive Committee (ExCo) arrived at this decision considering sentiments from well wishers and other stakeholders on the need to identify a coach who can take charge of the team leading up to Africa Cup finals 2012. The ExCo also considered the time between now and the start of the 2012 finals and the need to select a trainer who would be in a position to settle in quickly and deliver a successful championship. Mr Renard was therefore considered the best option from amongst a very competitive group of coaches from around the world.
At the time of issuing this statement, FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya and General Secretary George Kasengele were scheduled to meet the Minister of Labour and Sport Honourable Fackson Shamenda to officially brief him of this decision.
Mr Renard, who will be offered a one-year contract to compete for the Africa Cup title and commence the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June 2012 will be assisted by Mr. Patrice Beaumelle while Honour Janza will form part of his local technical staff. Mr. Janza will be with the team for the period of the preparation and competition in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Football House is very confident that with the selection of Mr. Renard, our Chipolopolo will be very competitive at the Nations Cup and will effectively compete for the title. We keep our eyes on the ball and remain focused and steadfast in taking our game to the highest levels possible – goals and objectives of which are clearly spelt out in our vision and mission of being at the pinnacle of the game on the continent.
As we thank the government, partners, sponsors and all stakeholders for wonderful collaboration and support, we call upon the fans and nation to rally with Mr Renard and support the team which we have undertaken to prepare adequately for the 2012 finals so that we can have a successful tournament.
Further, we wish to thank the dozens of coaches worldwide, including most recent expressions of interest from an Ivorian, who expressed interest in the job. Their willingness to take up the Zambia coaching job was a clear demonstration of the high rating and competitiveness of our team and football.

kalusha and your group are hopeless and a disgrace to the mebers of the society and football fratenity.come march you should step down. This HR abandoned us when we were in critical time and today you go and bring him back? if you remember he said he was not ready to continue with chipolopolo cause he wanted to coach a better team. but why have you call him back? Patrick Phiri is the man for the job.Am suspecting FAZ nalyamo in this deal. we are calling upon the GVT and stake holders to intervene in the matter. contract for HR must be investigated.i think zed has a problem.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! “…following extensive consultations and deliberations with various stakeholders and partners…” pure BULLSHIT! The bloggers are right coz given the limited time we have a local would have been a perfect fit to correct the mess we’ve found ourselves in and not some actor who once ditched us for a dollar-laden *****. Are we afraid the local coaches might surpass our coaching fame that never was? Lets stop living in the past ba Kalu/FAZ. Yashani nomba iyi?

This are kicks of a dying horse which are very deadly. Purely no direction of this ExCo. How can it be declared that extensive consultations and deliberations with various stakeholders and partners was conducted, which stakeholders are these? We Zambians are organized when it comes to soccer and as such, we never heard stakeholders declare HR to be coach. This man abandoned us at a critical stage of soccer, later you bring him back. Hold your words Kalu and stand free without question because I can smell a rotten rat in your ExCo decisions. From the brief CV tabulated, this man is fond of resigning or abandoning teams. Zambia has been found to be the weak nation to decision making in soccer hence his return. Men with high integrity will simple say, “no thank you” and carry his ego somewhere. This ExCo is very questionable, reasons are there for everyone to read and see. Dario was hired under unclear circumstances, he at least managed to qualify the team to AFCON and you later fire him….time yabooo aaah time yabo aaah…

Imwe ba Kalu na FAZ yenu mwalifulungana. Something is really wrong. HR used to insult us & abandoned us even after RB pleaded with him 2 remain. How do you even think of him in the first place. Even Patrick Phiri, Msiska Janza could have been better. I never even thought of this guy coming back in our country. Am very disappointed with all of you and please if Zambia fails to reach finals then you will be in for it. It’s ridiculous to see HR back.

Kalu and the group are just our agents. You & I we pay tax, GRZ gives grants to FAZ which comes from tax. Activities done at FAZ are done on our behalf.

So FAZ is making us be dogs. I hate this!

You messenger stop misusing the name of God(JESUS) Just talk about your Chanda Chimba without involving God. It is for your own good. Why is it that salaries for these coaches are kept a secret until they fall out with FAZ. We need to know right from the on set.

Zambia will only win aFrica cup under a Zambian coach. Let us learnt to respect ourselves, we can do wonders as zambians. I dont know when we zambians will come to our senses and start putting ourselves first.

Unbelievable! Kalusha Bwalya this is a big betrayal to us the local fans who have always supported you even when Simataa and Kamanga wanted to boot you out. Honestly, how can you bring back such an arrogant fool of a coach? He told bbc “they have never ever qualified for world cup, yet they want me HR to qualify them for the first time; how? never”. He lacks ambition and is only here to underachieve. I wonder what he inspires the players on. Shame to Zambian footie oh mayo iyee
