OPPOSITON Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) has contested the seizure of its one hundred and one motor vehicles.
The party has lamented that its vehicles have been indiscriminately targeted by Patriotic Front-PF members and the Zambia Police Service.
This is according to the petition filed in the Lusaka High Court by MMD National Secretary Richard Kachingwe.
Mr Kachingwe has alleged that private resources and donations to the party were used to purchase the seized vehicles.
He has accused the Police Service of having objected to release the vehicles.
Mr Kachingwe has claimed that police have no legal cause to continue to keep the vehicles in question.
He also contends that he has not been informed of the charges pertaining to the seized vehicles.
Meanwhile, Mr Kachingwe has alleged that the homes and offices of MMD members and officials have been subjected to illegal search.

Honestly where did your Party MMD got all that money it spent during campaigns? Don’t think people are ****** that is our money. We all know that the MMD had no businesses it was running ever since it’s inception. So which donor gave all that amount of money to MMD? MMD was just a Party full of Criminals starting with the Party President, ala twalifulwa mwefupuba mwee!!!!!!

AS FAR AS THE LAW IS CONCERNED THE POLICE HAVE THE VIRTUE OF KEEPING IN CUSTODY BOTH PRIVATE AND PUBLIC PROPERTY FOR SAFE KEEPING AND SECURITY PENDING INVESTIGATIONS. AND HAVE THE MMD PRODUCED PROCUREMENT AND TAX DOCUMENTS. OTHERWISE THAT PROPERTY SHOULD BE FORFEITED TO BOMA WHICH TO ME I THINK HAS MUCH USE FOR INSTEAD OF FImmd

MMD should be ashamed of themselves to demand for these vehicles. During the 20 year tenure of MMD there is only one fire truck in the whole of Lusaka, and people use wheelburrows as ambulances. The police don’t even have enough vehicles to attend to emergencies .They owe money to NAPSA (people’s pension) K98 million for rent. Some people have even died without their pension. They need to give these MMD campaign vehicles and bicycles to NAPSA, the police and people of Zambia. Oh no greedy and inconsiderate MMD want those vehicles. BUT what about the NAPSA debt. It is always about MMD and people are tired. They also need to show all documents where they got money to buy these vehicles. If they were contributions to MMD NAPSA has the right to take the vehiclestto settle the debt MMD owe.

I’ve interacted with Kavindele prior to Sept 20 polls and he hinted to me that construction contract (inyanji bamupela Ku north-western)made him to be on RB’s campaign trail on pretence that he was one of them,in actual sense he was in the boat. Those are the people we needed to supply us with information & that man,Kavindele, did just that. It is clear that this site called Tunfweko is pro PF and its followers are primarily PF and full of insults. In this venn I must state that for me an insult is a product of failure to think, or what we call brain failure. Every time there is brain lock in an attempt to think, then insults are produced.
Having said the above I must say that PF should be fair and sincere in all their dealings, not where SATA starts to castigate MMD publicly about the Angola’s Savimbi support when he was one of the three top master-minders of the same when he was third in MMD during Chiluba’s rule.
Ladies and gentlemen, we all love all people, all african, all zambians, and SATA in particular but that love should not strike us with severe blindness. Let us still have atleast little sense of sight remaining after being hit by such love.
It is amazing that for some people if SATA does wrong he is not unjust, but if someone else does wrong he is unjust, right?
To them, Merzaf scandle is just because it was SATA involved and not someone else?
To them, depositing government money by SATA into his personal account to earn his personal is just and not greed, but if it someone else who did it would be unjust?
To them, matcheting people in Chawama by Nakawala and SATA is just, but if someone else did it the it’s unjust?
To them, SATA supporting Savimbi is just but someone else supporting Savimbi is unjust?
To them, nurses publicly stating they are for PF and SATA even while MMD was in power is just but if they said they supported MMD then they are cobwebs according to SATA, and SATA is just in doing so?
To them, SATA is just in violating constitutional provisions in his appointments, disolution and creation of ministries, appointing PF cadres to head commisions and not seeing them as cobwebs and appointing PF cadres into civil service?
They say SATA is already president (which we all know), so all those who were unjust will go down. Is SATA himself JUST just because he is president? I thought someone is just because of the right they do, not because of their position.
Pretending that we are dull will not help any of us, because we are in real life and not a movie. Those who act the character of ‘dull person’ in a movie are justified because they are simply acting and are paid for that. Now you, what is your benefit in doing so????

October 22, 2011 at 4:37 pm
I find most comments on this site absurd. The MMD has taken the police to court and let the courts decided. Insulting the MMD and piling all kinds of allegations on them is not correct.
If police has evidence that vehicles were bought using gvt funds then this serves as an opportunity for all Zambian to know the truth.
The burden to prove that the vehicles were bought using gvt funds is with the police and all the investigative agencies. Not for MMD to prove the source of funds. Such a law would declare any person guilt before they are tried.
The fact that there are some Zambians who have no food, no Ambulance services, no fire extinguishers etc, it does not mean those have such facilities are criminals. When you sow seeds of truth, you will reap truth. Life is fanny, dont talk too much for what you say will be said against you one day and you will understand the pain of injustice.
Its as though this site is managed by the PF secretariat, if that is the case I ask you to change because we need such sites as Zambians to objectively share ideas. If we just want to believe that those who are well to do are thieves, then I am sorry Michael Sata then is equally a thief because he is among the very rich in Zambia. If you say those who have been gvt are thieves then Michael Sata is a thief, he was in the Kaunda gvt, and in the Chiluba gvt for 10 years.
So its not true that because one was in power, he is a thief. There are some people who may have stolen huge and remain poor at the end of it all. Its not about much you massed up for yourself but how you use what you have.
Please can we stop insulting.

Its unfortunate that the PF has now taken their cheap propaganda at the international level.
Even though our apology can be truthful, how do you send Kaunda to take the message to Angola when it well known that he was the arch supporter of Savimbi himself.
Dr. Kaunda, please how could you accept such a responsibility when you know how you supported Savimbi yourself. Because we need fuel, we have to sell our identity. Supporting Savimbi was the rightful thing for Zambia because he was dribbled from becoming president by the Portuguese.

Part of the last judgement which Kabimba lost says, ‘there is no law in Zambia requiring a party to dislose the source of their funds’.The legal position therefore is for the police to prove that the vehicles were acquired using illegal means.Without any such evidence, these vehicles are a property of the MMD.Maybe Kabimba has learnt a lesson that is why he is not linked to these cases which have been started through party emotions and not the law.
There are is a minister in the PF government who owns a company which started from the theft of copper on the copperbelt.Im not defending wrong doing if it can be proved, but this minister is free and pretending to be clean and protecting Sata’s bad decisions.Lets sweep corruption from Zambia without leaving the dirt behind in the PF government because you also do need to put your house in order.

Country Men and women
ineteresting comments.
in my view the fact that many zambian have not been paid their pension or are hungry, or there are no medicines in hospitals should not all been lumped on rupihas rule, there are people who retired during chilubas time, mwanawasa time does it meen that rb is responsible for all this?
granted there are some accusations agianst rb and his regime of blatant misuse and abuse of public funds but we must not lump all our national problems on rbs rule we need to critically annalyse why our country is where it is now of course rbs mistakes have costed us a great deal but in order to advise our president mc we must be objective in our annalysis and not be blinded by pain beacause as mmd we lost , or victory as pf.
as for the vehicles it would be inteeresting for major kachingwe to prove how mmd got those vehicles, mmd has been in the habit of buying campaqign materials including vehicles and assert that well wishers bought for them, does anyone remember the vehicles chiluba used during the mwanawasa campaing in 2001, they evenj appeared in the supreme court judgement but to date the issues has never been ressolved 10 years down the line.
if mmd used government resources as the evedence is strongly pointing then its very sad and disheartening but we must not fool ourselves that this is the cause of our economic woes currently it is aprt of the problem but we must not blame it all on it, lets be objective.
and dear colleaguesw can we reduce on the insults and attacking each other using unpalatable language, we all zambians and we must treat each other with love and respect because at the end of the day we all want the same thing and that is jobs, peace, the rule of law and justice, adequate resources to subsit and many more lets use forums such as this to maturely reason with each other and educate one another in a good way no man is an highland.
lets also remember that all persons are innocent until; proven guilty within reasonable limits
goddnight all beloved fellow zambians lets help sata and all our ploliticians in government and in the opposition to reason and progress

Not long ago Mr MC Sata was made to surrender one vehicle bought by a donor for his use. The MMD used DEC to get SATA to reveal the source of the funding. SATA obliged and revealed that the financier was GBM. Now it is thier turn. They must reveal who financed their 100 plus vehicles without fail and I urge the DEC to move in and demand that the MMD reveal the source.

Don’t hate those who have because you don’t! Just give them back their vehicles if you cannot adduce any evidence of those vehicles being improperly acquired. You ask where they got them, my simple answer is that any sane and intelligent enough person able to interpret the massive development the country recorded under the last 5yrs of the MMD would be inspired enough to donate a vehicle or any support to return them in power. The only unfortunate thing is that the uneducated out-number the learned in Zambia and so they carried the day in the elections!
