SAMFYA Residents Keeping Corpses In Homes

SUBJECTS of Senior Chief Mwewa and Chief Chitembo of the Ng’umbo people of Samfya district in Luapula Province are keeping bodies of dead relatives in homes before burying them because the fridges at Lubwe Mission Hospital mortuary have broken down.
And Senior Chief Mwewa and Chief Chitembo have appealed to Government to urgently help repair or replace the fridges at the mortuary.
Kwanga Cultural Association chairman general Eustace Bobo, speaking at the Kwanga traditional ceremony last weekend on behalf of the Bena Ng’oma chiefs who rule the Ng’umbo, Unga, Mukulu and Chishinga people, said hospital authorities have been asking people to carry bodies to their homes while burial arrangements are being made.
Mr Bobo said the lack of a working mortuary is causing a lot of distress among bereaved families, who are being forced to hastily bury their loved ones for fear of decomposition.
“We are appealing to the government to urgently help repair the equipment, especially the fridges, at our hospital’s mortuary because people are going through a lot of hardships when a relative dies,” Mr Bobo said.
And speaking through Mr Bobo, chiefs Mwewa Chibale and Chitembo appealed to the government to help address the situation, saying it has become difficult for people to keep bodies in their homes because of high temperatures.
“We have had this problem for a long time now, but nothing is being done about it. It is distressing to ask people to carry bodies of their loved ones to their homes when we are supposed to keep them in the mortuary under controlled temperatures,” one hospital official who asked not to be named said.
Some villagers said they are forced to keep the bodies of dead relatives indoors during the night when the temperatures are low and outside during the day to avoid decomposition.

But why dont you just bury the poor dead bodies? They are destined to rot whether you put them in the mortuary or not. It’s inevitable. Infact the quicker you bury them the less costly the funeral becomes.

ntuluntuntu mwanansamba chabula eeee nimwemwalengele ukufyompa amamina chabula eeee chabula nimayo oweeee, yangu umusi ubune bakabalwe baonaula ichimbo chamalilo being sung!!!Pipo have to travel long distances to samfya general hospital for medical attention!shame shame shame,an upgrade of Lubwe Mission Hospital nids to be upgraded to acceptable standards, imagine!!!!Lubwe mission Hospital is at the center catering many villages and thoze off shore of lake bangweulu and chifunabuli river. This is very serious, the missionaries did a lot of gud weks,in terms of schools,a clinic and hospital to be built in Lubwe. Those that have been deya will agree with me but because of selfineshness of MMD party decided to neglect those crucial institutions. This is a challenge to our newly voted in government under the leadership of His excellency mr MC Sata to deliver speedily,my brothers and sisters back home a suffering as iam in contact with them,as iam speaking my aged father had difficults travelling to Samfya general hospital to seek medical attention and yet Lubwe Mission Hospital is just less than 200 meters from his home.reason being Lubwe Mission Hospital just cant handle even simple cases. My heart is bleeding.Mr minister of health dont go to sleep i know Zambia is not a poor nation money is deya, make sure such serious matters are attended to.

While waiting for the fridges to be fixed. Come up with the strategy – If someone dies in the morning, let burial take place in the afternoon. Infact I come from a village where people have no access to electricity and that’s what happen – burrying the same day.

Partly due to lack of priority – settings
Several hospitals do not even have STANDBY GENERATORS!
IT IS NOT THAT THERE IS NO MONEY. NO, NO – MONEY IS THERE, BUT LOOK AT THE AG’s REPORTS; LOOK AT MMD CAMPAIGN MATERIALS; LOOK AT THOSE 4 LUXURY LEXUS HEHICLES for K3.6 BILLION!!!; LOOK AT THE SHOWDY AND WASTEFUL ROAD REHABILITATION/CONSTRUCTION WORKS YEAR IN YEAR OUT!!!; LOOK AT THAT PLAN FOR A BRAND NEW STATE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT IS ALL LAUGHABLE and GROTESQUE…
