SPORTS MINISTER Fackson Shamenda has expressed surprise at the decision by Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to hire former Zambia’s coach, Herve Renard.
FAZ announced on Friday that it had hired Herve Renard again and given him a one year contract to replace Italian Dario Bonetti who it fired unceremoniously and ordered to leave the country immediately.
“We are trying to find out what happened with the previous coach. We have not met FAZ to discuss the matter and now we are greeted with the news that we have another coach”. He said.
Bonetti recently helped qualify the Chipolopolo side to the 2012 Africa Cup Final.
Renard abandoned the Chipolopolo team for greener pastures with Angola. He had earned a good name after qualifying the team to the quarter finals in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations. However Angola fired him for non-performance/ he is currently coaching a club, USM Alger in Algeria.
And former FAZ Executive committee member, Henshel Chitembeya said he has serious misgiving over Renard’s return. He was of the view that a local coach should have been hired in the interim.
Meanwhile, Chipolopolo Soccer Fan Association President Pastor Makembo has called on the Kalushya Bwalya led FAZ executive to abandon their plans to hire Renard. Makembo has accused Renard of treachery.
Speaking to Radio Phoenix, Makembo said; “This man cannot be trusted. We all pleaded with him including the Republican President. But he decided to go and earn more money. Angola fired him. Now he coaches some small club in Algeria. Let him stay there.”

Renard is a good Coach and he had a vision for Chipolopolo going by the way he was able to identify local talent and fuse them in the national team, such as Emmanuel Mbola, Dennis Banda, Jimmy Chisenga and Thomas Nyirenda to mention a few! There is no player that Dario identified for fusing into the national squad as he regarded our league as useless! FAZ are right in re-hiring the services of the French man as he knows our players well and the team will player better with his good tactics!

The problem with Renard is that he follows instruction from Kalu. He lacks respects. The middle field of national team is porous. There is need to try Andrew sinkala who now plays in Bundusliga. But Kalu hates and jealous of Sinkala’s progress in soccer. Kalu, very selfish and petty.

Out of those who applied, Mr Chitembeya et. al , who do you think better fitted the job?
Yes he was treacherous but he did the job and I think thats the principle reason why we hire coaches.
How dare you forget too that players themselves did not want Bonetti yet you want to support him, even when he was hired you’re on record of having not liked his appointment.

Renard did what any of us would do. If one company is paying you peanuts and another one offers you more you move on, its human. Both us Zambians and Renard have learnt life lessons since parting ways and I don’t think mistakes will be repeated. Zambians must not try to penny pinch, pay the man what he deserves and you will face no problems of insurection. Renard understands the team, the country and the culture and even the local league, I think apart from breaking the bank and hiring Guus Hiddink, Renard is our best chance of Victory next year at the Africa Cup.

de minster shud avoid de temptation of intefering in de operations of faz.its not gud 4 our already embatled soccer standards. renard is not a bad choice considering de time remaining b4 afcon 2012. 4get how he left, anyone wud hv done dat. local coaches hv failed us before. this is no time 4 experiments.

We do not want another coach sitting fixated like they are in a trance when everyone but him thinks He should be standing and doing something.Love of the game should be appreciated with some wins. Its not about hiring local coaches its about success. So count how many successes we’ve had with a local coach.

i think we dont need foreign coachs its high time we invested in our national coachs e.g patrick phiri.its like educating your own child with the hope that you will benefit something but your child later own leaves you and goes to benefit another person.what am saying is that when these coachs leave zambia the leave with experiance.

Yes! Faz shud pick the coach. The govt and the fans can make observations and advise if possible. This isue if not handled carefuly, may have bad effects on the followings: (a) 2012 Afcon results (b) 2012 Faz general ellections. Lets all be in agreement and come up with one good coach. While we are being told that DB was employed by RBs State House, we shud as well remember the good surpotive coments HR made two wks b4 the 20th Sept. general ellections ” if RBs govt wins I can love to come back to Zambia” . May I suggest we leave out the Italian and the Frenchman and go for
locals. In our hospitals most DRs are Zambians, UNZA most Deans are Zambians and almost all MDs in our companies are Zambians. We have coaches who are highly licenced in Zambia.

Let HR continue where he left. Its normal for evryone to do what he did. Its still happening in Europe, look at Asamoah Gyan and our own Fwayo Tembo just to mention a few. Do you think Sunderland would reject Asamoya if he decided to go back? HR is our only hope for survival. Players respect him more than they did with DB. His trainings were superb. Ask players themselves about DB, they did not like him. The other thing is why does DB like to associate himself with politicians? Does he think vindevu shamenda ll employ him as well? This is not MMD DB

i think if jose morinhio were 2 come back at chelsea 4rm real madrid.he would hav succeeded so many things bcoz he undstood each nd every player.same 2 our new coach who hav another opportunity of nt only making the chipolopolo reach the quarter finals bt also winning the truiph.frnd luk a coach knowing the players especially felix katongo who ws by dario bonetti cn do sumthin nd dis ar sum players herve renard likes.there z no defending champions egpty, nigeria nd cameroon cn we fail 2 get a truiph with a gud coach herve renard.

An indiciplined player is sidelined in the team however good they are, just aswell a coach with no respect for team and employer should be sidelined. Let us have pride as a national team. Renard is good but we should not allow him back because at the time we needed him he slapped us in our faces. There are several other contenders for this job.

Excellent decision by Faz! and you critics, learn to close your mouth and let those responsible do their job. Leave Reinard alone to amend his ways. He is the best choice. I thank God for answering my pray.

Let us all wait and see, i think Renard will do a good job for zambia given the mixed feelings surrounding his coming back.
i believe both FAZ and RENARD understand the high risk they have taken by renewing their partnership on behalf of zambians.
it is also my understanding that both parties will work hard to make our dream of lifting the cup come true and i therefore wish them all the best.

The script continues at Football House. HR’s team managed to reach quarters at AFCON 2010, but was his qualification to AFCON as good as Bonetti. Did we finish top of the group last time around? Both coaches are not good for the Zambian game. Both had controvensies surrounding their appointment. Can we learn to move forward?

i personally dont think much separates HR and DB… i, for one, dint see any logic in why FAZ were in such a hurry to get rid of DB when we had just managed to qualify for AFCON 2012.. sure, people can talk about how DB was hired… but that means you also have to talk about how HR left… anyways if our national team players are happy with the departure of DB and the return of HR then its all good, they shud get to work asap.. if on the other hand they are not, then i guess AFCON 2012 for us is just another humiliation waiting to happen… either way, only time will tell! Goodluck Chipolopolo!!!

Yaba Pa ZEd thats why!!!
If Herve renard was a good coach, Zambia could have beaten Nigeria the last time we played Nigeria in the Afcon. The boys did all they could and all we needed was just a good coach to read the game, make sub and we would have won that game but alas our so called foreign Coach just watched from the sidlines.Chamanga was tired and we had the goals on the bench on the likes of Mbesuma to mention but a few, yes some of u might say he was fat by then and could not score.if we look at the players that went to afcon, whose selection was that? who identified them? If i recall very well those were Patrick Phiri’s boys.So if someone is saying we needed a coach who know the players very well i would go for Patrick and give him a chance not the Guy who came from nowherewe give him platform goes Angola fails to perform coz he is a lousy coach or coz he needs somone behind him Like kalu to be telling him what to do.

October 24, 2011 at 2:10 pm
FAZ should negotiate to pay him less than he was getting before, that way he will learn. Why do we Zambians always get residual? Does FAZ think he will perform better? They received so many app letters from even coaches who have done and would do better than this fool re-hired to coach our team.

Herve Renard is a FAILURE, very arogant and stubborn Character. He has just come to milk out of us our TAX PAYERS MONEY,.. Why did he have to dump our lads like that in Angola?? Elyo kabili uyu umulumendo alikwata nemiponto sana..I don’t see any reason why we shud say he has come back to continue from where he left and since he also knows the players! That’s nonsense..I have so much respect for great Kalu, having been a keen follower of his football career from the 80′s, but on this one ba great Kalu, awe mwapona…NOT A GOOd CHOICE..I hope you have not signed the contract yet..and I think its high time FAZ started consulting us also when it comes to such issues..we too are stakeholders…the TAX PAYERS…

Ba Imitwe shamano, I for one was very disappointed with Asamoah Gyan..what he did was not the best of things a great football player would do. And I know so many people were disappointed with him including Sunderland themselves. So that’s a bad example. Moreover, Sunderland would still have a choice whether to take on him or not, and 99% sure, they would say not to teach him a lesson, if not they would take on him and religate him to the bench, so that he finishes and then loan him to Blackburn or Wigan..so the issue of Herve Renard come back is a SERIOUS BLUNDER on the part of FAZ..this man left unceremoniously. So why elevate him him that much by calling him back..Did FAZ consult with Angola why they FIRED him within a short period of time???

Ya this Herve Renard is a cadre, MMD cadre for that matter…this is the man who predicted RB’s victory and implored Zambians to vote for RB ati coz he had a better vision for Zambia and said RB had done great developmental projects..So why bring him back…please FAZ heed our plea…otherwise we will extend the ‘BROOM’ to Football house

No change no gain, its just like using a ‘used condon’ really. This is a reason Zambia has never ever qualified to the World Cup in the history of Soccer.
Faz why are you scared of change? Herve ran away to Angola because of money, God punished him and he was fired within a year.
Now you want him again so that he can ran away for the second time?
Give other coaches a chance, especially our own Zambians. It seems corruption is still going on with Faz,despite President Sata’s command on this issue. Faz you will regret very soon.

An expired product still sitting on the shelf to be passed off as fit for consumption to unsuspecting customers. Who else was up for the job? HR with help of Kalu, knew that the only way to get more money was to out the earlier contract and come back after a while with a better deal. Afterall Bonetti was recommended by HR to start with, maybe it was to gate keep only.
