Co-opted FAZ committee member Miles Sampa has quit his position.
Highly placed sources within FAZ said that Sampa, who is also Lusaka Province minister fast tracked his decision following his strong stance against the re-appointment of Herve Renard as Chipolopolo trainer.
Sampa tendered in his resignation on Saturday.
Despite Sampa claiming his government portfolio persuaded him to relinquish his FAZ post, the source said Sampa opposed the re-appointment of the Frenchman who quit his Chipolopolo job after leading Zambia to a quarter final finish at the 2010 Africa Cup in Angola.
“We hear he has quit because he was not satisfied with the reasons for rehiring Renard and felt very strongly about this guy’s return,” the source said.
Sampa was drafted in the FAZ executive following the resignation of four FAZ elected officials last October who cited poor management of the association by Kalusha Bwalya.
The quartet that quit had three committee members Henschel Chitembeya, Violet Bwalya, Pivoty Simwanza and ex-FAZ vice president Emmanuel Munaile.
Their resignation constitutionally dissolved FAZ but Bwalya co-opted four new members to fill the void a move deemed unconstitutional by various football stakeholders including the National Sports Council of Zambia.
The move left only five elected officials in Marcha Chilemena, Keagan Chipango, Lenny Nkhuwa, Boniface Mwamelo and Kalusha Bwalya to administer the number one sport in the country.

Pa Zed pakwangalila kuli ba Herve. Its becoming clear that Great Kalu lacks management skills or utmost questionable and he seems to be oblivious to the peoples concerns. The last two coaches have been employed in the most untransparent way and public outcry has fallen on deaf ears. A bad end is imminent for Kalu. Who is going to pay for the damages to the just fired coach? Either he resigns on moral grounds or helped out immediately.

Press Statement
(For Immediate Release)
25th October 2011, football house
STATEMENT ON RESIGNATION OF FAZ EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER, MILES SAMPA, MP MINISTER OF LUSAKA PROVINCE FROM THE FAZ EXCO
The Football Association of Zambia would like to dispel the erroneous and misleading assertion that Lusaka Province Minister Honourable Miles Sampa has resigned from the Executive Committee (ExCo) of FAZ on the purported account of disagreeing with the appointment of Herve Renard as new Chipolopolo coach.
Hon Sampa has resigned, as was expected, on account of his massive work load as Member of Parliament for Matero as well as demanding ministerial duties.
Further, FAZ wishes to state that in the ExCo meeting convened last week to discuss and decide on the new coach for the Zambia National Soccer Team, Hon Sampa was unequivocal in his position and support of the appointment of Renard. It is not the policy of FAZ to discuss and make public details of its ExCo meetings but for purposes of making clear this situation and setting aside the wrong report, we have been compelled to disclose the details of that meeting.
We therefore appeal to the football family and public as a whole to disregard and ignore the story that quoted sources at Football House because these so called sources not only misled the author but brought into question their credibility and standing and could be a source of embarrassment for other parties mentioned. As a matter of fact, both FAZ and Hon Sampa are available for comment on any such matters and the author only needed to confirm with the FAZ Spokesperson or the Hon Minister (which he never did) to get an accurate story than mere misleading speculation from invisible sources.

Zambians are easily hoodwinked.Herve Reinard knows no football. FAZ is not principled please government invest in Basketball, Netball, Rugby, Motorsport, golf and other sports at least there executives know what they are doing. This guy – Herve-opted for Angola, why recall him. What new things he is going to bring to the team. Another quarter-final place, damn FAZ, is that only thing you can do? How many times will Zambia reach these stages and not lift the cup? Kalu and his cohort cant move Zambian soccer forward. They are failures and sturborn. Ask yourselves Zambians, 47 years after independence imagne Zambia has not player playing for big european teams such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, InterMilan, Ac Milan, Two Manchesters, etc. let alone the nationwide league in the UK. Countries like Chad, Niger, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Angola, Two Congos, Ghana, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Algeria, Eqypt,m Sierra leone, Gamibia, Mali, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Cameroun etc. boast of several world class players in these elite leagues.

F.A.Z!!!!! 9 out of 10 times you are more likely to hear a bad thing coming out of FAZ than a good one! One wonders why most of the corrupt football association presidents world over are so bigheaded. Maybe they have the right to coz afterall the mother-of-all-football corruption is acceptable at FIFA, and blatter himself enjoys protecting such fraudulent individuals.

Tired of all this nonsense. Someone out there clean FAZ for us. March 2012 is too far. By that time we would have been booted out of AFCON. We need samity in all critical areas of our daily life. Football in Zambia equals life.

Iam a Great Kalu supporter but over Renard I dont support him. Renard didn’t show us that he can do a better job than where he landed us in Angola. In fact Bonetti’s team scored more goals than Renard. But those saying Zambian coach should just shut up because we dont have a coach who can win AFCON. We should have seen him in the Champions League. The late Mbafuchile was on course but unfortunately he has left us.

With two months left which coach could have taken the lads to the Nations cup! Of course no Zambian applied for the job! Let’s not talk only about individuals but critically look at time and pipo that applied !like anyone would feel after been abadoned for the sake of the so called greener pastures so is the hearts of o the soccer loving Zambians ,please let us not get personal on the appointment of herve renard ! I too ws bitter when I he renard was reappointed but after looking at the list of o the applicants he was the only one with knowledge about Zambian football!
