PRESIDENT Michael Sata has appointed former Ministry of Health permanent secretary Dr Simon Miti as Zambia’s Ambassador to Switzerland, according to well-placed sources.
And President Sata has appointed MMD’s Japhen Mwakalombe, who quit his Chongwe parliamentary seat a few days after his election, as High commissioner to Mozambique, UPND former Vice president Francis Simenda as Ambassador to Sweden, among other diplomatic postings.
Sources revealed that Dr Miti would replace Darlington Mwape, the former legal advisor to late president Mwanawasa, as Ambassador to Switzerland, Permanent representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and United Nations agencies headquatered in that country.
Former lands minister, Judith Kapijimpanga will be High commissioner to Tanzania and there are many more unpleasant diplomatic appointments Sata has made.
Dr Miti was put on forced leave in 2009 during the investigation into the K27 Billion corruption scam in the ministry of Health under his watch.
Sweden and the Netherlands froze their aid to the Ministry of Health over embezzlement of the funds.
He denied knowing ministry of health former human resource manager Henry Kapoko, who is appearing in court over the same matter.
Soon after President Sata’s election in September, Dr Miti was seen at state house.
Several politicians have been frequenting State House-which others refer to as ‘the labor office’-seeking employment and President Sata once mockingly told them that ‘you all look like you are looking for jobs’.
President Sata, who has publicly and repeatedly proclaimed that ‘I am allergic to corruption’, late last month appointed forgery-convict and corruption suspect Xavier Chungu as his Luapula Province Permanent Secretary but rescinded his decision after being exposed before Chungu could be sworn in.

Diplomatic posts should be reserved for people in Min of Foreign Affairs as they are the ones trained by their ministry in diplomatic affairs. This is the same thief that embezzled Donor funds, forcing taxpayers to pay it back to donors. Mr presido, you may have power to appoint, but appointing thieves, IS CLEARLY ABUSE OF OFFICE, we won’t forget this – this goes against the support we gave you!!!

Henry, you are clearly misinformed or ignorant regarding the role Emmanuel Mwamba played in the MMD and his association with the Late former president Chiluba.I am sure you remember the third term debate, well Emmanuel Mwamba was in the forefront of it, as though that is not enough, he was one of the very influential members of the Zambia independent monitory team, this team of election monitors was strategically set up by the government to monitor elections and ensure continuity of the MMD Government not to long ago. Though the team was presented to the public as an independent monitoring team. This guy is marked with flaws and has worked his way up the political ladder by supporting and encouraging corrupt systems as long as they can supply for his pocket. Mwamba is marred with corruption! I never had confidence in Sata.

I guess there is a serious problem of senility and old age in our presidency. One cannot logically place the cause for all these mistakes in decision making. I am concerned that once ministers realize how poor our man is, they will be teling hi lies and other untruths in order to keep their jobs. Sata must wake up from his winning slumber and seek outsiders as advisors in order to avaid this captive mentality with his close knit fellow Bembas in office.

To Sata, being alergic to corruption means appointing corrupt people to GRZ positions!!!! We are yet to see more. This is what we warned people against but alas, Zambians decided they wanted a raw deal. HH was the wisest choice but muna zigong’a mweka!!!

Well written by wise, very objective intelligent analysis, some bloggers need to improve the way they analyse seriou issues, don’t be compulsive and write nonsense, remember we are educating each other and taking part in the way the affairs of our country are run, especially zambians in the diaspora. Miti was a wrong choice period! In America if you had a scandal 20 yrs ago and now you want to run for president , you can’t, ask Cain!

Zambian Foreign Service cheap today, Zambian Foreign Service cheap today, come and buy. Career Diplomats are being recalled for no apparent reasons and replaced by PF cadres. What is the difference with MMD? Same difference.

Ba President,
Your appointment of late is very disappointing. Taking into consideration of us who was with you all the way and you end up ditching us in preference for those who were opposing you and insulting you. we need these jobs too.

The problem I see in HE MCS is that, he wants to appoint people whom he was worked with in the past. That is like thinking inside the box and closed decisions such as in the recent times could not only backfire on his popularity back also embarrass the government. He needs to consult the party’s leadership before implementing decisions. Very key observation..
