KONKOLA BLADES FC Assistant Coach DIES

KONKOLA Blades Football club assistant coach Charles Mwila has died.
Blades club executive members confirmed Mwila’s death this evening.
Mwila died in a Johannesburg hospital just before 18:00 hours from burns he sustained in an electrical fire accident at Konkola Copper Mine in Chililabombwe on November 9 where he worked.
Mwila was a key member of Blades coaching staff after taking up several gap-coach positions over the last six years.
He was in temporal charge of Blades after the departures of after the Fighton Simukonda in 2004, Fordson Kabole in 2005, Dean Mwiinde in 2009 and Peter Kaumba in 2010.
This is barely 48hrs since Power dynamos legend and ex-chipolopolo Jones Mwewa died.
Indeed, It’s a dark cloud on Zambian soccer!

This is the second such incidence to happen in Chililabombwe. Another Miner died some years ago of electrical burns. The 1st victim was 1st treated locally and flown to South Afica where he died. He was an artisan and his foreman allowed him to switch on high voltage 11KV panel that was not propery isolated (when the artisan had no authorisation / certification to handle such). Again Charles Mwila was an artisan. So what happned in this case??? KCM should be made to answer.

May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace. It is time for the authorities to look into the operations of these mines. There should a safety code for the miners.

for sure Francis, what is happening to the safety system at KCM,i feel they need to review the safety procedure on electrical isolation and probably look at the root cause and initiate a better one.am still saddened at the death of my childhood friend Kashiba Isaiah, who was sent for treatment in South Africa after electrical burns.

Ba KCM are dogs. We went to console the widow yesterday evening and could not understand why they only allowed the wife only to look after him. Why didn’t they at least pay for at least 3 relatives and not only the wife alone.Monkey asses.
