KUNDA Defends ZAMTEL SALE ‘The Transaction Is Well Documented’
EMBATTLED FORMER MMD government has defended the sale of Zamtel saying it was transparent, above board and according to the law.
Former Vice President, George Kunda has disputed the preliminary outcome of the Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate the sale of Zamtel to Lap Green of Libya, which established that the transaction was fraudulent and illegal.
According to the former Vice President, the transaction is well documented at the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA).
He has however, endorsed Government’s decision to table the Zamtel report before cabinet saying it is supported by law.
Mr. Kunda warned that a prospective reversal of the Zamtel transaction is a threat to foreign investment in the country.
He has described the setting up of commissions of inquiries, as unprecedented and stage-managed by the current Government.
Mr. Kunda, who is a lawyer, is saddened that the terms of references for the commissions of inquiries seem to be predetermined.
He has advised the Patriotic Front (PF) to inherit all liabilities and assets that were left by the previous government saying it is a norm of governance.

Why didn’t dora give a statement or produce documents when she was summoned to appear before the committee?? Ka Kunda naiwe walilyamo te?? Give us info on other bidders apart from LAP green..You sold ZAMTEL illegally and got some cuts(money) and you are saying its a norm of governance so PF just have to inherit that.. Firstly we want ZAMTE back, secondly all culprits involved in the sell to be jailed..RB & DORA hope you are listening, ka KUNDA naiwe twalakubikamo ******.

I can love if the sale of KCM is investigated as wel. Coz it was sold almost in a similar way like zamtel. $24 million was 2 little which they recovered within 3 months imagin. Lets work up zambia!

The assuarance from ba GK that the sale of Zamtel is well documented is warm but perhaps the pipo want to know why such a big transaction was so secretive and involved single sourcing to a large extent.if ZDA has all the documentation in place,then that is fine but was the transaction in line with the public procurement act num 12 of 2008?what role did ZPPA play in enhancing the tenets of procurement?if ZPPA never played a professional job or advice the powers that be,which invissible hand played a role?anyway thanks for that assuarance

You thieves. while we sweet for only K2,000,000 as a salary for a civil servant and UNZA graduate moreover serving lives of zambians in a poorly drug stocked Hospitals, you are busy pocketing bog-ass money? shame on you. you even made every one to start thinking like you how can you justify the pay of K45,000,000 monthly to a CEO at Building society. PLIZZZZZZZZZZ Zambians lets us not allow this to continue. Firstly Mr GK you have been in a gov that never ever listened to the cries of the ordinary zambian but that of an investor.Zambians have really suffered for a long time,people being paid as little as K200,000 and you boast of being a listening gov were on earth.There are things that we as zambians couldnt fight in our natural but GOD has surely done it for us.Yes u never saw anything wrong in the sale of ZAMTEL because you were an intersted party.LET WHAT HAS TO BE PUT RIGHT BE DONE.

Kunda should not think we are fools! How do you make a sale of a viable entity like Zamtel and end up with huge losses on your hands and on top of that you pay more up front for you share while the buyer takes their sweet time to pay the outstanding balance? Crap!!!! we warned you that the time for reckoning would come but you were so blinded by power and thought you would keep those seats for ever. Kunda should shut up if he knows whats good for him, you will all rot in prison for your misdeeds and please don’t trivialize the Zamtel issue because us the populace takes this issue very serious. We protested against the sale but were you a government that listened to the people? Now face the consequences!

Kunda Chikala how do u buy 25% Zamtel shares at 334 million dollars u criminal wen yo so called Investor has only paid 15 million dollars (u *****) to take over control of Zamtel.I think these are not Investors,they are Invaders!!!PLZ pf we need our company back from these Invaders!!!!!!!!
