KITWE Man USES Bulb In SUICIDE Bid
A 37-YEAR-OLD man arrested for assaulting his girlfriend shocked his cellmates at Kitwe’s Riverside police station when he swallowed pieces of broken glass from a light bulb to commit suicide.
Copperbelt deputy commissioner of police Milner Muyambango confirmed the incident in an interview in Kitwe Tuesday 11/22.
He named the suspect as Great Banda who was arrested on Sunday 11/20 for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
“We arrested this man because he assaulted his girlfriend. This man beat the woman, as usual the girl reported him to us and the police decided enough is enough and arrested him but while in a police cell he got a light bulb, broke it and swallowed the pieces ,” Mr Muyambango said.
He said Banda allegedly resisted to go to hospital but police officers on duty forced him to seek medical attention.
“His relatives could not take him to hospital because he is a violent man. We had to move in and take him to hospital. He was checked, the doctors did not find anything. We don’t know whether they melted inside or what. We equally don’t know the motive of swallowing the pieces of the bulb,” he said.
Banda has been released on bond.

the glass pieces couldnt be seen coz they were chewed before being swallowed. besides, doctors didnt have a machine that could detect small and less dense particles like glass.common detectors can pick things in the body based on density eg x-ray and heat distribution for thermal scanners. there is nothing strange about this people.

This is amazing!! Pieces of glass “melting” in da stomach?? Impossible! Glass completely melts/liquifies at approximately 1400 °C to 1600 °C depending on the composition of glass. How possible is it for the normal human body temperature of 37°C to melt da glass. The badger could have used energy saver lamp which has mercury coating.
