KAMBWILI Condemns Southern Province Tribal VOTING ‘Even A STONE Can Win In S/Province If It Stood Under UPND’
FOREIGN AFFAIRS minister and Roan Constituency Member of parliament Chishimba Kambwili has bemoaned and condemned the voting pattern in Southern Province.
Featuring on ZNBC’s radio 1, Chishimba Kambwili condemnd the voting pattern in the Southern province of Zambia, saying the province votes for United Party for National Development (UPND) candidates just because the UPND party president Hakainde Hichilema hails from there.
Kambwili further said even a stone if it stood in Southern Province under the UPND ticket can still win.
He called for change of mentality in the way Southern province votes.
Southern province has been cited as the province which votes based on tribal lines associated with the opposition UPND.
The issue of tribalism became rampant in that region when then UPND president Anderson Mazoka who hailed from Southern province died and the party was looking for Mazoka’s successor.
Serious strong pronouncements and statements from Southern province were issued that only a tonga can lead UPND and no other one tribe.
Sakwiba Sikota ,a Lozi, was UPND vice president then and was a rightful candidate to replace Mazoka but tables turned that they needed a tonga to be party president.
They later resolved and chose Hakainde Hichilema, a tonga, as their UPND party president in a controversial manner and led to Sakwiba Sikota quiting as the party’s veep because of tribalism within the party.
Patrick Chisanga came in as party veep, it was all the same, he was butchered and many more have joined and quit citing tribalism.
The ‘One Zambia, One Nation’ slogan first republican president Kenneth Kaunda advocated for has been threatened in the last decade.
Statistics have shown that 3/4 of UPND members and supporters are tonga’s and other tribes who hail from southern province.

I am SDA church member. I know my fellow church members (Tongas) very well. But we are family in Jesus Christ our Lord whether Tonga, Bemba, Zulu, Nyamulenge. Believe me you its just time which has seperated us we are all one from the SAME NUCLEAR FAMILY.

Am Bemba but i dont support the system like Tongas are voting for tongas hw about Bembas who do they vote for? do they vote for tongas in northern province no. Analyse the statistics then judge. if it is UPND standing in that part of the country is almost Zero marks. They are not fools, they just do that which is done in other provinces. Change everyone then Zambia will be a better place to live in. for Tongas when marginalised, like they will never govern this country one day they will wake and say enough is enough. the desperate mind makes desperate decisions, and it will be a big problem to contend. I was very disappointed with Kabwili’s comments. Very TRIBAL. Its a matter of wanting to remove a speck of dust in your brothers eye when you have a LOG in your own. Sir, remove that LOG in your eye so that you can see that speck of dust in the tongas. Nobody complains when UPND loses miserably in the North, Since time in memorial. If you leaders can preach tribalism which is becoming the 74th tribe for the tongas and bembas, what about us the grassroots. We are all Zambians so lets live in harmony. Accept the situation and let God be in control. One day the tongas will vote with the bembas and vice versa

People we are not saying voting on tribal lines as Bembas vote for Easterner in Chisali or chipangali though posible, but party wise.
For example the Late Mwanawasa won seats in Eastern but does not come from there,they never voted for the late General Tembo. Did he win a seat in Southrn??????? simple logic. Accept you are tribalist and the rest of Zambia will never vote for you until you charge…………..

I love the people of Magoye with a PASSION. Galant sons and daughters of Zambia. Keep it up. Chishimba Kabwili is a tribalist Period- He is against all non-bemba. When Kasama voted for Sata in 2001 and not for the late Mazoka it was not trbal. Of the two sata and late Mazoka; who was a better candidate. Every right thinking person would say Mazoka?? Chishimba is wrong & he doesn’t deserve to be in office. He is the one who is tribal. He hasn’t complained about Sata’s cabinet composition if he was truly genuine. Where are the Tongas in that family cabinet? Don’t point fingers at others when you are equally guilty. All this nonsense about Tongas being tribal is baseless, the same can be said of other provinces.

Unfortuinately Steve reminded Botha that they were at the gates of judgement in heaven and racism and its offshoots were punishable there and Botha would be a victim coz that was God’s domain. Likewise, Lozi, Bemba, Tonga, Ngoni, Luvale, Kaonde, Lunda are all one. There would be tribalism up there. God only knows the 12 tribes that are mentioned in the BIBLE. Kambwili’s language is not of a worthy leader. With such leaders in office and busy polarising the country we are headed for trouble one day in this country. Tongas are not ******. For years they have been ruled by people from other provinces, most of whom have been bunches of thieves to say the least. I do not totally agree with the minister.There is no way he can generalise tongas as being tribal.Maybe he should have said most tongas in rural areas are voting on tribal line.If tongas were tribal,how about the over 2 thousand people that voted for the PF candidate?Are they also tribal?Come on guyz,the problem we have here is lack of good leadership qualities on the part of our political leaders.Kambwili should have looked at the results critically before jumping to generalising Tongas as all being tribal.I Listened HH on some programme on ZNBC immediately after the September elections,the man is paranoid.Just imagine, there he was on the National Television saying he was aware what some tribes taught their children not to vote for other tribes because they were the ruling tribe,a clear reference to the Bembas because he went further to condemn the creation of Muchinga province on pretext that it was one way bembas wanted to channel money to the North.Clearly this is the calibre of most of our political leaders we have today.Its Shameful.
