WIGAN ATHLETIC In Hunt For MAYUKA

Mayuka in action !

ZAMBIA top striker Emmanuel Mayuka currently plying his trade with Swiss side BSC Young Boys is on English Premier Division soccer side Wigan’s trail for a possible signing come January transfer window.

According to a story published in the United Kingdom’s newspaper people.co.uk, Wigan scouts have been tracking Mayuka, the 20-year-old striker of Swiss club Young Boys, who is valued around £3million.

The Premier League strugglers are also locked in a battle with West Brom and Leicester in an attempt to sign Reading contract rebel Jimmy Kebe.

The Zambian prolific striker, who last week was voted among the 100

best players in the world, is currently on a five year-contract with Young Boys after a $1.7 million transfer fee from Maccabi Tel Aviv signed last year in May.

”Young Boys forward Emmanuel Mayuka could be a target for Wigan. The

Zambian goalscorer could be a solution for a team battling to keep their Premier League status,” read the story in part.

The Zambian prolific striker originally from Kabwe Warriors football where he started his football career early this year helped his club win the Europa League title when he scored a last minute goal against Russian club FC Zenit Saint for BSC Young Boy’s 2-1.

Meanwhile, Zambianfooball.net reports that Israeli based striker Rodgers Kola was target in his club’s 2-1 win in league as Ashdod went third and 2 point behind William Njobvu’s Hapoel Shmonne Kiryat who are the log leaders on 29 points.

In South Africa, Collins Mbesuma and Isaac Chansa were joined by goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene on the score sheet in their clubs’ respective matches in the ABSA Premiership while Davies Nkausu and Joseph Musonda conceded penalties.

Kola got his goal in the 69th minute against Justine Zulu’s Hapoel Reshion Lezion for his fourth goal of the campaign in all competitions with three of those in the league with three assists.

The 22 year old striker has 11 of the 14 league games for Ashdod. On Saturday he played 85 minutes.

Still in Isreal, Njobvu played 90 minutes in the middle of the park as Shmonne Kiryat beat Hapoel Acre 2-1.

Should second placed Hapoel Tev Aviv fail to beat Macabbi Haifa on Sunday (today) then Njobvu’s club will maintain top spot.

In South Africa, Mweene scored from the spot in Free State Stars’ 2-0 win over Santos and secured their fourth win in the last five matches. Noah Chivuta again came off the bench in the 73rd minute.

Chansa played deep in midfield as Orlando Pirates are now playing 4-4-2 with Benni McCarthy spearheading the attack. On Saturday, Chansa helped Pirates end Supersport United’s 13 match unbeaten run as they demolished the log leaders 3-0 at Orlando Stadium.

McCarthy put Pirates 1-0 up from the spot after Nkausu had handled in the box. The 34 year old UEFA Champions League winner then started the move which was finished by Chansa as the Chipolopolo midfielder made it 2-0.

The igronance exhibited on this site is pathetic. Who says Mayuka hasnt been selected for Afcon? Is ”dull” something you are or something you do? Faz have clearly stated that the team 2 face angola is NOT the final afcon squad, so get that thru your thick skull! The other says ”we need a technical commitee”. PLEAAAAASE! We ALREADY HAVE a technical commitee comprising of senior coaches

Candid Kalu played very good football for Zambia and made us proud but at the time he is the one who destroyed Zambian football thats why we are struggling interms of soccer. That guy nga akupata just know you will not play football in Zambia. We have lost great players Like one Commando, Charles stopped bcoz of kalu. The coaches like Zoom and Fred Mwila resigned bcoz of Kalu. The way u worship Kalu ifyona Shamenda Takapele money pantu Kalitumpa.
