Unsettled Chipolopolo trainer Herve Renard says the reported US $100,000 (about K500 million) monthly salary demand is exaggerated.
A fuming Renard whose re-engagement has been a subject of controversy said after Tuesday afternoon’s training session that he would not talk to journalists saying they had painted him in bad light since his second coming.
Sports minister Fackson Shamenda was quoted by the Zambia Daily Mail on November 28 as saying government will not bankroll Renard’s US$100, 000 wages.
“You want me to talk to you when (what) I read in the papers is something else. You don’t want to talk about training you are talking about sensationalism. Who told you my salary is US $100, 000 when it is US $2, 000 a month,” said Renard in response to a question on how the first day of training went.
“I did not tell anyone my salary is US $100, 00 write this tomorrow because you will be happy. You are happy when you are reading this. I will not talk to you people no! I have read a lot of lies about me.”
The Frenchman has been re-engaged on yet to be publicized terms with government unequivocally distancing themselves from his contract.
Renard is yet to pen his deal with Football House as it is yet to be established who the paymaster will be.

Anyone talking about a local coach for the national team does not understand football! Look @ profession leagues like EPL where they are so many locals and yet the clubs are hiring expatriate coaches! If as a country we expect to make a maiden world cup appearance, then we need a professional coach in our ranks like Herve Renard! So those saying its expensive to hire the coach must also be talking against by-elections which have became common and costing the nation billions!

Now that Renard has cleared the air about his salary, please leave him alone. Let him work with a peaceful mind in order for him to bring fruitful results. This man can’t be compared to Bonneti at all interms of performance. Bonneti qualified the team to AFCON simply because we were in a very fair group otherwise we wouldn’t have made it to AFCON tournament.

The problem with the said minister of sport he is more a trade unionist than a minister he thinks strikes every time, now if Government does not pay Renards salary who is he punishing. Who does he want to go on strike, after all it is not his money it is our money just pay the poor fella. Why do you hate KALUSHA so much, Zambia is the only country which does not honor its heroes. Lwenu te Zambia ikasebana ku AFCON.

If you want good results from the national team, criticise Renard constructively. Players have a very good relationship with this coach, and when they get into the pitch they play with lots of confindence. The problem is that you hate everything that KALU does.KALU has done alot to improve zambian football. Why are we so forgetful? He’s a human being and therefore, he can make mistakes.

Shamenda is not a football fan, and believe me you, he wants to make a political mileage out of the Renard thing, why talk about hiring now, as if we have time to get somebody else,FAZ officials, government guys are a let down to Zambian soccer, if I may ask, what is it, that they have positively contributed to the game of football? should I tell you what they have done to shot down posible glories, remember first CHAN in Senegal, a day before the final, reducing the allowances for the team,to demotivate them so that they can not get the cup, tell me who were better between DRC and Senegal, whom we humble?

as Zambians we always want glory without a cent spent.imagine if Renard was reading all these comments, what positives was he going to get out of them?the afcon is just a month and some few weeks away, for once lets rally behind the coach present.do you really think we can win the AFCON with all this noise on the team and coach?Forget it.About local coaches, how many times have they failed us?we are not Brazil or Spain who have 1st class local coaches at their disposal.only patrick among the locals though he has had chances to do the job in the past.
