The five under-20 players from the Cosafa winning squad joined the national team and were part of Tuesday’s afternoon training worked out at Nkoloma Stadium after doing light training on their own in the morning as the rest of the 21 players concentrated on ‘pre-season’ work
In the afternoon, top scorer and this year’s Cosafa Under-20 Most Valuable Player Evans Kangwa was joined by Bruce Musakanya, Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba, Alex ‘Ba Evra’ Sichone and new comer Amos Simwanza from Konkola Blades, who impressed especially in the 5-1 demolition of South Africa in Botswana joined the main group and there was no better feeling when Chris Katongo offered a traditional peptalk before leading the team in routine stretching.
The jittery young guns made a blunder by going in a different clockwise direction when the exercise required everyone to go move in an anti-clockwise.
Next, Herve Renard took over and it was game time. Three teams were made with what looked as the main team comprising of Chris, Rainford Kalaba, James Chamanga, Stopilla Sunzu, Stephen Kabamba, Jimmy Chisenga and Nathan Sinkala.
The second string included Felix Katongo, who has been looking sharp in training, Given Singuluma, Hichani Himonde, Chisamba Lungu, Thomas Nyirenda, Lawrence Chungu and Nyambe Mulenga.
The young guns were joined by Kennedy Mudenda, Joseph Sitali and the nonsense Francis Kasonde, who even hacked his roommates Chris Katongo as the skipper needed medical attention from Dr Joseph Kabungo at some point.
The first match pitted the main side and second string, and a Singuluma goal earned the latter a match against Young Gun and while they had dominated the previous game, Musakanya, Sate Sate and Kangwa played at the high tempo to the excitement of the onlookers.
The only downfall from training was that Amos Simwanza stretched with an ankle injury while the highlight was the tackles being thrown by ‘Mr Reliable’, Hichani and Sunzu.
FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya and Portugal bound Emmanuel Mbola watched the training session
On Wednesday, the team is expected to have one training session per day before Saturday’s departure for Angola on a chartered plane for Sunday’s friendly match.

Under20 boys are good when given a chance. They can score goals that we require at AFCON.
But my worry is ” witchcraft among senior players who like tying other players legs until they score” Am afraid counselling on that is very much needed before we go to AFCON.
Wish you all the best lads.
