OPPOSITION Movement for Multi-Party Democracy-MMD- Presidential aspirant Pastor Dr Nevers Mumba has urged republican President Michael C. Sata not to be dictorial by using the police in his ruling, saying doing so will undermine the democratic tendancies of the national but should instead let the opposition provide checks and balance to his government.
He said he has no record of exchanging insults as he only remembers insulting when he was 7, 10 years old.
Speaking on ZNBC’s National watch programme, Dr Mumba claimed the Zambian people know that he is not a kind of person who fears man but God and it is for that reason that no amount of intimidation will deter him and his party the MMD from representing the aspiration of the voiceless.
He hoped that Sata will give him and the MMD the platform as he was given before.
On the MMD presidential competitors, Dr Mumba said he was encouraged with the participants vying for the presidency adding that all of them were prominent and distinguished gentlemen and that it gives him hope and shows that MMD has a resevior of promising leaders.
Dr Mumba however said the MMD members will make the final decision and adding that when/if he lost the elections, he would reflect on the future of the party and country but will support whoever wins.
He expressed optimistic that MMD would bounce back to power in the next elections (2016) but first have to correct the mistakes, cut off all undesirable misdeeds.
He said he is in politics based on his values and faith upon God.
Dr Mumba said he is best man for the job because he posseses the attributes that will rebrand the MMD into a formidable opposition party and cited position of veep, heading a political party before, high commissioner among others as qualifications enough and that he understands the dynamics of governance.
He added that he was well qualified for the MMD presidency because amongst those who are aspiring, only him is not in parliamnent and that will enable him dedicate most his time strengthening the party country wide. He cited an example of Michael Sata who was not in parliament but was on the ground campaigning throughout his opposition days. He said he will serve them (Aspirants who are parliamentarians) as they serve them in parliament.

I Pity this man because it is more honorable to be a pastor than to be a politician.

I find difficulties to see leadership of the country in Nevers. Nevers used used to a great man, Victory Ministries “Zambia shall be Messages” I remember very well though I was young. The Nevers of Today is a different one. I strongly do not think he is the right candidate for MMD Top position. He will run away from the party, the thing he is good at doing. Run way from NCC, RP, appointed VP by Levy Messed up. The list goes on and on.

If the MMD has to be rebranded, it needs a magnanimous gentleman able to preach peace, reconciliation, delegence and fortitude. MMD need to rid itself from the corruption tag and position itself as an alternative in this democratic dispensation. Therefore, am vouching for Nevers.

Dr. Nevers Mumba has made few mistakes before just like you people. Infact what makes me wonder is that Sata Made serious mistakes in this country which includes axing people with matchets, changing positions on several issues, being caught with $27,000 in his jacket, passport issues and yet you celebrated him and voted for him. Politics is about strategies. If Dr Mumba saw that joining MMD was a good strategy to win, he had to join. That is political intelligency. Why should you crucify him for that decision which is political right and yet other politicians are even womanizers but you people praise them? I really dont know what kind of leaders we need in Zambia if we dont support Dr.Mumba. Go forward Doc.

Compared to the president, Nevers has made less mistakes and has a match more honorable character and is more intelligent. He has shown to be a man who can strategice intelligently. We need an opposition leader who can speak wisely and intelligently than one who is prone to exchanging insults when provoked. Zambians should not forget the character of the president. We put him there because we wanted change. At rate mmd was governing, even a thief could have been voted into power if there was not better choice. We have achieved the change now let us check and control who we have put in power. If we leave him alone he will think he is God and will work against us. Nevers is a good person to offer control to the president. If mmd does not vote for him then it will vanish from the scene and a strategist should know when leave a sinking ship. Nevers wants to bring God to the very governance of this country but people who are blinded by the present badness do not seem to see good being presented before them. Open your eyes and look beyond yourself and the present. You will see what is being hidden from your eyes by the present circumstances.

Let me add my voice to the many that have spoken. I personally know Dr. Mumba I like the man not as a politician but as God’s messenger.
What pipo who are vouching for don’t realize is that one cannot mix oil with water, one of the liquids is heavier than the other. In the same vein, one cannot mix politics and Gods work. The bible itself says night and day cannot mix.
It means that Dr. Mumba will have conflicts of loyalty with which avenue to follow and knowing how politics is and as has been noted has inclined to follow the wicked ways of ploitics.
Some people are made for God to use to the great advantage of God and I want to believe that Dr. Mumba was made for this purpose.
I would therefore appeal to Doc to reconsider his position with God.
