Institute for human rights and democratic governance (IHRDG) has cautioned public officers against making decisions that may cost the country when they are in office.
Commenting on the Zamtel saga, institute executive director Franco kampijimpanga tells QFM says that there is a possibility that the sale of Zamtel will cost the country through legal fees.
Mr. Kampijipanga has however noted that corrective measures should be taken now that it has been revealed that Zamtel sale was fraudulently done by the previous MMD government.
He adds that it would not be right for the government to legitimize the transaction which was corruptly done and has hoped that the reversal will not send a wrong message to the investors wishing to come to Zambia.
Mr. Kampijimpanga has also observed that making the Zamtel report will pulvihowever, help people of Zambia and investors understand the circumstances under which Zamtel was sold prompting the PF government to reverse the deal.
President Sata yesterday directed justice minister Sebastian Zulu to make public the report as well as send it to the Libyan government using the fastest possible means including all the foreign missions present in Zambia.

The sale of Zamtel is a closed deal and there is no way it can reversed and there might be just the adjustment of the share holding and that is if the majority share holder agrees to do so. It will be the worst move to take this Zamtel back to the hands of failures as it will be worsted like before. I would have love to as the president, what was he to do if it happened that Zamtel was returned to the govt hands to make it as viable as it is now? He will not answer me a thing as he failed to deliver when he was number three in MMD…..

This is what a reasonable and responsible leader does…publish the report to the public so that the general citizens can see how the previous regime abused its authority and engaged in corrupt practices. The issue for now might not be necessarily to take back Zamtel because of the legal implications but what has come out so strongly is how the whole process was fraudlent. And for me that is key, because a few hyper-greedy individuals like Dora,RB,GK,and RB’s Sons pocketed some cuts from this stinking deal and all the way to the bank laughing. Also Lap Green benefitted greatly because they bought Zamtel at a song. The losers in this whole illegal transactions are the Zambians taxpayers like you and me.

@Mukombe, if you are watching how come you are commenting, watching is with eyes not writing. Bring out constructive English and points for readers to understand how low your caliber is. This is our country and we will not give chance to people who have negative initiatives like you and HH. What the President has done, needs to be commended and not just watching…….

There is nowhere in the world were an injustice is left to exist in fear of legal costs. It costs time, money and energy to get justice always. ZAMTEL sale was simply a fraudulent deal and therefore it will either be reversed or the shareholding of Lap GreenN will be reduced so as to compensate the Zambian public for their loss of earnings from Zamtel while Libyas’ Lap GreenN has been ripping where they did not sow! Well dome comrade Sata. KK would have called these plunderers RB & Sons, Dora, GK & Situmbeko, STUP!D IDiOTS! In addition to this any unexplained wealth should be forfeited to the state as must be fruits of corrupt proceeds from these same shoddy deals. VIVA PF!
