Zambia were forced to come from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Libya in their African Cup of Nations Group A clash in a saturated Bata.
The match was held up for one hour and 15 minutes due to torrential rain in Equatorial Guinea.
It was clear the sodden pitch was not fit for action, but the referee gave the match the go-ahead – surely under pressure from tournament organisers – despite large swathes of the pitch being under water.
Ahmed Saad Osman gave Libya the lead when he slipped the ball beyond Kennedy Mweene with his side’s first attack of the night on four minutes.
Emmanuel Mayuka equalised on 29 minutes with an expertly taken volley before Osman took advantage of some sloppy Zambia defending to restore his side’s lead on 48 minutes.
Christopher Katongo eared Zambia a draw when he planted a header beyond Libya keeper Samir Abboud from close range on 54 minutes.

The pitch robbed zambia. Chisamba Lungu is not playing well. All the three goals zambia has conceded are mainly his fault.

What a show Zambia under such tough conditions. Equatorial Guinea, it’s up to you: if u want to stay in the tournament, beat Senegal tonight coz Zambia is coming to get you. Libya…. Praise Alla for the rain as we praise God for keeping us in and at the top of Group A for now and maybe longer. Crossed fingers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oke ilya ni boom but the referee was one sided. Had it not been for tumfeko being a public thing, I would have insulted him that Chikala cobe. Just imagine! it was Zambia V Libya+referee. We would have scored more. Congrats COPPER BULLETS.

I think the boys are playing good there great chances of them getting through the finals. If they can show that kind of resilience in the water logged pitch which north african nations are used to how much more in dry ground. T

IWE MINGA MUNSOMBA WHY ARE YOU EXPRESSING YOUR IGNORANCE IN THIS MANNER BY SAYING”PRAISE ALLAH FOR THE RAIN AS WE PRAISE GOD FOR KEEPING US”? THIS IS THE SAME AS SAYING “GIVE ME Paracetamol AND Panadol SO THAT I TAKE THEM AT THE SAME TIME TO STOP HEADACHE”.

The libian coarch was right to say that this match was going to be won by utilising Zambia’s weakest points. and they just did that when all the goals were scored on the right side wher Chisamba Lungu played from.

Come rain or sun we will whack them, even if you put water or sand on the pitch we will still whack them. African soccer, CAF that pitch was below international standards. The pitch was not tested for water logging. A fail on CAF….

Lap libya is capable of buying the game from nothing to lose senegal and zambia can be beaten by the already qualified equatorial guinea just for the free one million dollar per win. so careful.

We are confident of reaching the last eight. Senegal wouldn’t want to lose all the games so we see Libya and Senegal going back. My hope though was to Finnish first in our group so that we avoid Ivory Coast.

Renard sometimes he doesnt think properly on mbesuma. does he want to frustrate him that he stops playing for zambia or wat? the boy is good in the 18 yard box with smoothy passes. y waste subs like that? its jst the zambian talent nt coaching staff. Some of us are aware that he hates cliford and mbesuma so much that if iwas nt for kalu they will nt even be on the subs. good game mayuka, chris , isaac, kalaba, mweene etc go zambia go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
