A 20 Year old housewife and her 10 months old baby are both nursing bullet wounds at Mumbwa District hospital after the husband’s gun accidentally went off yesterday.
Both Police sources and Mumbwa District Hospital Medical Superintendant Dr. Reward Sibanda confirmed to ZANIS in Mumbwa today that the incident happened yesterday as the man was trying to service his firearm.
Dr. Sibanda said five bullets were removed from the leg of the mother adding that she is now in a stable condition while the 10 months baby who was also shot in the leg will have it amputated.
The Hospital superintendant who named the victim as Matron Mweene of Dam 5 in Chief Mulendema was brought to the hospital last night and that five bullets have been removed from her left leg.
Dr. Sibanda added that the 10 months baby boy who was at the back of the mother will have his right leg amputated today.
And Police sources said investigations have been launched to establish how the accident occurred and the type of the gun which caused the accident.
Police further said no arrests have been made.

Thats the problem of doing things without caution…! Can’t one honestly reason to say anything could go wrong? Some accidents are avoidable

Was the man doing the servicing of his gun in presence of his family? Where was he pointing the gun when doing the service? Towards his family? I wonder if this man is not going to be charged with criminal neglegence.

You people, there is more to this story than we have been told. How can you service a gun which is loaded and it aimed at some1? police arrest this criminal, he wanted to kill an innocent child. He does not deserve to be a father he is a criminal, he should go to chibokaila so that they can rape him pamatako. I feel for the baby and the poor woman. Some men are more rubbish that the word rubbish itself
