Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili this morning telephoned Nkhosi Warriors Football Club official Keith Mwewa threatening him of unspecified action.
This is in the wake of Mwewa’s comments in the local media at the weekend in which he expressed disappointment with Kabwili for openly supporting FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya’s candidature at the March 31st FAZ election.
Kabwili is reported to have supported Kalusha’s candidature, a statement that drew a sharp reaction from Mwewa, who said winning the Africa Cup did erase the arguments about the lack of transparency and accountability at Football House.
Mwewa confirmed receiving a telephone call from Kabwili this morning was threatening him for criticising the minister’s ‘cadre like behaviour’ in which he vouched for Kalusha’s re-election.
He said Kabwili asked him why he was talking about him (minister) in the media.
Mwewa advised Kabwili that if he did not make his “wild statements” open he would not have had had attracted any form of reaction.
“My advise to him was not to make statements which have not been investigated.
“I told him it is dangerous for a minister to make wild statements on issues he did not understand.
“He got upset and started shouting at me like kid asking if I know who he is. I told him he doesn’t know me either,” Mwewa explained.
He advised Kabwili to stay away from FAZ politics or seek guidance on the issues.
Kabwili has been at the centre of controversy since his appointment to cabinet often making misdirected statement.
He started off as foreign affairs minister where he lasted slightly over 90 days and was transferred on grounds of undiplomatic behaviour in his interaction with foreign dignitaries.
Shortly after his transfer to the then Ministry of Sports and Labour, Kabwili launched a misdirected campaign against investors forcing President Michael Sata to withdraw the responsibility of labour from him.
Mwewa said club officials were happy with Chipolopolo success at the Africa Cup and regarded the Christopher Katongo-led team as heroes.
He, however, said that success did not change the position of that Football House was rotten with corrupt activities which include illegal player transfers.
Mwewa warned that the success of the national team should not be attributed to a few ‘greedy’ individuals that would even cause chaos over funds received from the tournament.
The Kafue-based football official said issues of transparency and accountability should be prioritised in football like the case has been in other sectors of society.

This gumu-gumu chili ku muti is at it again. Just how any president can appoint a gutless thug like this one to his cabinet vexes me deeply. Kambwili is truly a rampaging baboon, menace to society and the sooner he is caged the better for society.
