A local organisation, SIBONGINKHOSI FOUNDATION, is saddened at the increase in the number of defilement cases in Zambia and about the increasing number of small girls patronizing night clubs.
In a statement released to Tumfweko, foundation Sibonginkosi CEO, Martin Mulenga, said the foundation has expressed concern over the vice and called on parents to be wary of what their children do and take precaution henceforth.
Below is the full statement
“We would like to express our concerns about the rise in the cases of child defilement in last few months in our country. It is indeed disheartening that our men continue with such activities with impunity despite the massive sensitization against this evil and the harsh punishment of minimum of 15 years imprisonment that comes with it once arrested.
UTH reported yesterday (Monday) that the number of defilement cases being recorded has been on the increase and that now it’s an everyday situation especially among girls between the ages of 12 and 14 years. We are aware that child defilement has been in existence for a lot of years back but with much awareness nowadays, we expect the tread to be going down instead of having an upward gradient.
It is in our view that this evil will not be won through stiffer punishment and sensitization only but also by personal effort and change of mentality by the citizens to stop the activity. This is an evil that has everything to do with mirth’s of cure for some STI and AIDS or Cleansing from some evil spirits of some sort and/or mere lack of self control. We are making an Ernest appeal to our men to brash these mirth’s away and face reality to say that this acts are wrong and should not be allowed to continue at all.
We further would like to appeal to our parents and guardians to ensure they are not loose on their Children especially when going and coming back from schools. Let’s ensure that our children are escorted and collected at reporting and knocking off times respectively.
It is also important that our teachers live up to the trust that people have In them as they leave their children in their hands for hours, hence need to find time to explain to the children that they need not to be silent about men touching them in certain ways or even having sex with them but should tell the parents or/ and the teachers about it immediately no matter what they give them being sweets, money or even being threaten.
We have seen situations where school going children are busy hiking vehicles asking for a lift from strangers, our children’s need to be taught to fear people they do not know, but also not to let our children loose on every relative just because it’s any uncle, cousin or brother because these have been found to be the main culprits seeing that they are trusted. Once the matter is reported no matter who is evolved, father, uncle, grandfather, friend, brother must be reported to the police so that it acts as a deterrent to other would be perpetrators.
It is also a serious concern to note the number of small girl’s patronizing clubs and taverns and drinking alcohol while illicitly dressed. These are some of the main reasons why you find even big men are being tempted to have carnal knowledge with small girls.
We should not let things to chance, Bemba’s say;” ICHIKU TACHIPALAMA NAMULILO”. Girls need not to take themselves to the sacrificial alters they need to respect, keep themselves and concentrate on things that will positively affect their lives not alcohol consumptions and illicitly relations with big men all for the love of goodies and money. Parents need to ensure they provide for the needs of their children and avoid too much child bearing if they do not have the capacity to look after them.
We further urge all clubs owners to strictly stop underage patrons in their premises but further we urge the councils not to relate in enforcing the law. We urge religious organizations and business communities to talk against these evils in their congregations during their preaching’s and meetings so that the message can go across as we need every one to rise up and fight this wrong tooth and nail.
We on the other hand, would like to recommend parents, guardians and everyone who has come out in the open to report to the relevant authority’s and speaks against such a vice.”

Reality is real. The Name of the organisation seems to be a borrowed one “SIBONGINKHOSI” why not use local names, have we run out of local names.Any way that aside, Its not poverty that is causing that no sexual cleansing but moral decay, UN and its Human rights. You take a small wipe to discipline and deter your child from such immoral acts, the courts of law sentencing you to 15years in imprisonment with hard labour. A wipe is a biblical concept ( spare the rod and spoil) the child. parents have no say about there own child. Because of that, they are afraid to bear children and prefer turn sex as an enjoyment act of pleasure and leave thousands of an born children in condoms.
No matter what we do as long as the father of children are left to human rights, we will not win the battle.

church congregations or church meetings esp.. overnight prayer meetings are No.1 breeding place for fornication, girls are impregnanted by choir masters, pastors & fellow church members. Im still looking after a child conceived in a church building, the father run away and joined othe congregations where he’s continued sexually abusing innocent young girls looking for salvation in church

I suppose the west is looking at us and celebrating that they have achieved in getting us talking about homosexuality. Consider the following:
1. In Zambian homosexuality, bestiality, defilement, rape and GBV are all undeniably rampant and on the rise. These all are illegal, unnatural, un cultural, un religious (whatever religion there is in this country) and are punishable by law.
2. If in Zambia anyone will be arrested and punished / rehabilitated for marrying more than one partner, defilement, bestiality and conduct likely to cause breach of peace, Why should a homosexual be let loose and given (“wrongs”) rights? Why should BAN Ki-moon be allowed to come here and expose “conduct like to cause breach of peace” and hosted for a banquette?
3. There is no such thing as Gay right. Like the able lawyer Mumba Kapumpa put it on radio. there are only human right and not defiler right, sodomists rights, Homosexual rights and all these wrong wrongs!
4. We MUST arrest and persecute anyone who come to breach our peace, advocate for homosexuals to be adored (in the same group as defilers.) beginning with Mr. Ban Ki-moon. He should not only apologize but be arrested for advocating for our citizens to break our law, culture, religion nature and all there is for us to believe in. Our laws are for everyone within the bounds to abide by.
5. Join me in the “black ribbon campaign” against homosexuality and denouncing BAN Ki-moon!
6. Lets us all take this self imposed intrinsic freedom to discriminate and isolate dehumanize homosexuals, defilers, rapists. Let us punish, rehabilitate and pray for them and our most beautiful land Zambia!

@ janet c,why are you so bitter on those denouncing homosexuality? ok,now, the fact is that there is something wrong in our society.because of advances in our lifestyle certain aspects that are considered as aborminations have evolved to their peak pronouncements as other members of our community try hard to legalise such, hence the human mind has been induced by failure of fear which has resulted to seeking wrong ways of solving problems.check out how corrupt the minds of these kids are,and you come out clean to chalenge me if human right which i define as free from punishment has brought any good in our society.parents cannot discipline their own children for they have rights today.

I wish you would stop blaming victims of this abuse – i.e. women – for the atrocity of rape and defilement. Men should accept that they have a very big problem – why is it that in the western world rape and defilement cases are not as high as zambia’s, despite women dressing skimpily! The zambian man really needs to re-define himself, re-brand and civilise his mind because he is slowly becoming useless to society and faces extinction. As the saying goes, change or die!!!!

There is no hope in politics, everyone concerned about his own pockets. I knew this will happen, sometimes we tend to worship these political leaders. Zambia will have reasonable people in leadership maybe in 20 years to come. This is very sad, these people are Zambians, leaders are respecting foreigners instead of their own people. That is what power can do anyway, it blindfolds. You easily see faults when you are out there, once you are in the game, it’s another story altogether.

@ shax da vapour – you have to come to terms with the fact that the world (including zambia) has changed! If you can’t change, then go and live in saudi Arabia or another sharia compliant nation – after all, nowadays it is free movement of labour. If you choose to rape because of women’s dressing, then you will go to jail for at least 15 years where the gays will sort you out – maybe then you will shut up!!!
In the west, women dress as they please – is rape as rampant as in Zambia? Change your bloody mind-sets or you will be left behind

When I go 2 a club,tavern, bar or whteva u want 2 call it,I look 4 two things.
1. I look for a cold beer
2. I look for pussy.
Now in case u didn’t know, both beer and pussy are readily available in such places. So if u want 2 stop me from consuming any of these,u simply stop stocking them. Failure to which I will pay 4 both and enjoy them. In case ur a thick head, the issue is; stop the so called 14 year olds from patronizing such places and advocating for sex in exchange 4 money coz I will **** any pussy I lay my hands on as long as it can handle me.
One other thing, some dudes who have been jailed didn’t even rape those girls, they were merely framed by the so called 14 year olds who wanted more money after being fucked.
Lastly, wht does no under 18 mean? So if these kids go to such places and they get fucked, whose fault is it?

@ Janet C,your observations are valid, any so called man who commits rape deserves 2b caged for his filthy act. Tht is 2 say,he entices small girls from their homes, churches, schools, streets, parks and any other safe places meant for them. Now whts yo view on 14 year olds who patronize drinking places clad in skimpy regalia and advocating for sex in exchange for cash?

February 29, 2012 at 7:16 pm
@ Big Chilolo – my view is that govt needs to introduce stiffer penalties against under-age bar and tavern patrons. The selling of alcohol and nicotine to under 18 year-olds should be made an offence and bars/taverns should be charged if found wanting.
Are you telling me that all women who get raped are dressed skimpily? let us not forget that a few days ago a randmother was raped by a young man.
I am beginning to think that Zambian men have become demon-possessed. So men should not ‘hide’ behind women’s dressing to justify their own evilness and inhumane acts
