Dr. Kanono Arrested After Sleeping With 17-Year Old Girl
Lusaka’s traditional Doctor Kalonga Kanono has been arrested by Police for allegedly raping a 17 year old girl.
Police Acting Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed the arrest of Dr. Kanono to ZNBC News in Lusaka on Sunday.
Mr Hamoonga says the incident occurred on February 17, 2012.
He explained that Dr Kanono allegedly gave a lift to a grade 12 pupil of a named school in Lusaka, who had knocked off from school.
Mr Hamoonga says whilst driving around 13 hours on February 17, he allegedly claimed that he had received a phone call from his secretary and drove to a named lodge in Kamwala South.
He says Dr Kanono allegedly committed the offence at the lodge.
Mr Hamoonga has since warned pupils not to accept lifts from men as this puts them in a compromising situation.
But when contacted, Dr Kanono says the girl was his sister and that the matter has already been resolved.

I think police should be trained on issues like rape/defilement.poor people are now trying to trap people who have got money by sending their under aged daughters and nieces for their survival.
The JUDGES should now consider the time and the place when and were the incident happened. Honestly,can a 14 year old person be defiled in a LODGE/GUEST HOUSE ? judges be serious with your judgements otherwise people like NYAMASOYA will find himself in jail for same offence.

In the first place can som 1 tell the nation where exactly the act took place, is in the car or in the room at the Lodge? How then did the girl get into the room wit the “Doctor”? Was she druged or she voluntarily walked in? Then ultimately she was aware of what was going to take place and she actually submitted to the “Doctor” probably the Doctor did not meet the demand the Girl Made hence exposing him. facts of the matter are that, since the gal was above 17, the question of defilement does not arise. rape can only stand if there is evidence she was forced into the act e.g. torn knickers, shouts for help, bruises on the private parts, etc. this story needs more information before a tribal breaks out.

The problem is that these girls consent to such acts, but when they are not given money or any token that is when they claim they have been raped. anyway, just my view.
